Rest for a while and we decided to go Chinatown for T&K Seafood, we took MRT from Sukhumvit to MRT Hua Lampong $27 and walk to Chinatown but I not recommended as it pretty far and the road is quite dark. The best way to go Chinatown is either by Taxi or TukTuk but for TukTuk must be extra careful. Walking the way to Chinatown there is a couple of nice temple that you can take photo, once you are near to Chinatown you will know as there is crowd and traffic jam at the main road of Chinatown, lot of hanging signage as well.
What you can do in Chinatown is eat seafood, visit合記林真香(Sorry, can’t find English name for this shop), walking around and shopping for dried seafood. The Street is not that long but both side of the street is full of hawker stall and lot of people walking around.
Just walk along the street and you will see two seafood restaurant side by side, we decided to go for T&K Seafood which the staff wearing green color shirt. The opposite seafood restaurant also very crowded and their shirt is red color, I cannot tell you which one better since we did not try the red shirt restaurant before and I am pretty sure it not so bad since it also crowded. T&K Seafood operated not only open air instead you can choose to sit inside building with air-conditional, the shop is pretty big and we just need to wait 5 minute before we are taken to seat. Before going up to 2nd floor we saw the open kitchen grilling the fresh water prawn and we know that we are in the right shop as you can see that guy grilled the fresh water prawn non-stop and a lot.
2.5th floor, this area is so small that they need to sit in tatami style
Open up the menu and everything also look so good, we ordered a few famous dish such as curry crab, grilled fresh water prawn, tom yam fresh water prawn, grilled squid and seafood glass noodle salad.
Stir Fried Crab Meat with Yellow Curry Powder $300, this dish is perfectly fit for those lazy to take out crab shell as they served only crab meat, initially I thought the crab meat must be frozen type but I am wrong as the meat is fresh withdraw from the shell which still has the crab natural sweetness, the yellow curry powder is pretty strong in flavor and lot of egg use to cook to make the gravy, it doesn’t not taste spicy instead it has more sweet taste.
Grilled Fresh Water Prawn $150, it is the best fresh water prawn I ever eat before, the prawn is perfectly grill as the juice inside the prawn head still maintain and the prawn meat is extremely firm, the prawn doesn’t need to eat with any sauce instead the natural sweetness of prawn is so delicious. Most important is the price, for just $150 a total of 5 big prawn is served and all those is extremely fresh, well worth the value. If we got a chance to visit again, I definitely going to ordered a big plate.
Grilled Squid $150, the squid has very thick meat and natural sweetness, perfectly grill that not chewy and best taking together with the spicy sauce provided.
Cold Spicy Seafood with Glass Noodle Salad $150, a mixture of squid, prawn, onion, chili, cashew nut and glass noodle with their secret spicy sour sauce, it is a very appetite dish as it taste sour, spicy and sweet, the glass noodle very springy together with other ingredient making it taste very delicious and great texture.
5 dishes for 2 persons, OMG. So filling!
That guy still grilled the prawn non-stop.
I highly recommended T&K Seafood Restaurant as the food is extremely delicious and price is very reasonable.
We will told to visit合記林真香 which sell lot of local delicacy and it one of the most famous shop in Chinatown, sliced pork, shredded pork, golden pork…etc is what famous in 合記林真香.
After enough shopping we decided to take a Taxi back to Terminal 21 but sadly none of the Taxi driver willing to run meter hence we decided to walk back MRT station, it another painful walk but since we are so full hence a walk can help to digest. Again we not encourage you to walk as it too dark and dangerous, we will not walk again honestly. That wrap up of Day 2.
