The Bungalow is a Hainanese Restaurant located inside Lone Pine Hotel offering Hainainese food as well as Western food. The name “The Bungalow” granted because the premise initially was a bungalow build in the early 1940. As time pass by the house was then rent to a Chinese family with the intention to build the very first hotel at Batu Ferringhi and when they first step into the place they saw a small tree on the ground and mistakenly thought it was Pine tree and that is how the Hotel Lone Line name granted.
Lone Pine Ice Tea, a very complex flavor drink that taste a little bit sweet and sour with a hint of tea. Even though the drink is complex in flavor but it extremely smooth to drink.
Chun Piah RM22, homemade Hainainese spring roll with minced chicken, crab meat, prawns, turnips, cabbage, carrots and onions served with traditional sauce. It is exactly the same Chun Piah we did at Pearly Nyonya Cooking Class we attend before, Chun Piah is deep fried to golden color with crispy skin, the sauce has light sours taste which give extra flavor to the already flavorful Chun Piah.
Batu Maung Satay ½ dozen RM14, grilled marinated chicken skewer serve with groundnut sauce. Chicken meat is well marinated to fully absorb the seasoning flavor, it taste delicious.
Kiam Chye Ark RM25, rich duck broth and duck meat, salted vegetable, flavored with sour plum and peppercorn. This is one of my favorite soup as it is one of my mum best dish as well, I am surprise to taste my mum flavor here. The ingredients inside this bowl of delicious soup include of salted vegetable, carrots, mushroom, tomato and garnish with spring onions. The soup taste sour and sautéed which is perfectly well to eat with steam rice.
Chicken Curry Kapitan RM28, slow cook rich chicken curry flavored with ground spices. Chicken meat is very soft and juicy while the curry is not spicy and smooth to eat.
Penang Fried Koay Teow RM24, wok fried flat rice noodle with prawns, eggs, chives and bean sprouts. Picture below is 2 portion combine into single plate, whole lot of fresh springy prawn use to cook this plate of Fried Koay Teow, even without the present of pork lard but it still taste delicious, it has the authentic Chinese style Fried Koay Teow flavor which has the “pan heat” and dry texture.
