Brake…Stop! How come this shop look so familiar, isn’t this the famous Squidto that we saw in Taiwan? Yes, it is indeed the same shop. Now it has open it first ever branch in Malaysia and it located at Gurney Plaza Basement.
Before we get into the signature squid, let talk about drink first. Previously they only have 2 drinks but now they has increase it to 4 drinks which is Peach Tea, Ice Winter Melon Tea, Passion Fruit and Ice Honey Green Tea. The drink is nice to drink, smooth and not too sweet, it cost RM2.90 each.
According to the owner the squid use are different from ordinary squid we get in market instead if flown far from Argentina, this species of deep sea squid has better texture and thickness. The challenge is to ensure all squid maintain in the same size and freshness but boss nailed it. Not only the squid special instead the making of seafood rice that use to fill in the squid is another challenge, according to the owner he use assorted seafood such as squid, dried shrimp, prawn…etc to cook with rice and stuff into the squid by hand, just because of the complexity hence they can’t produce too much daily.
We had this is without any sauce, they do provide 6 different sauce for you to choose and it up to your own taste bud to choose your favorite. The squid is perfectly deep fried to golden color and the rice is perfectly cook to flavor and texture.
As you can see the rice is not mushy instead it is perfectly cook and full of seafood flavor.
French Honey Mustard Sauce Squito RM8.90, mustard lover will sure love this sauce as it has very strong mustard flavor and the sweet honey help to enhance it flavor even more.
Thai Hot and Sour Sauce and Japanese Wasabi Sauce Squidto RM8.90, this is special made for us as normally no combine sauce allowed. We like the wasabi sauce very much as it has very good wasabi flavor and mild spiciness which is very delicious while the Thai Hot and Sour Sauce is pretty normal and nothing special.
Italian Basil Green Sauce Squito RM8.90 is another pretty normal as the taste doesn’t should out compare to other but it still taste good.
Indian Spice Curry Sauce Squito RM8.90 is our favorite among the many flavor we try, it has very strong curry powder taste which suit local people taste bud, even though the strong curry flavor apply on top of the squid but it never overpower seafood rice in it.
Pepper Salt Fried Squid RM6.90, it has two option which is normal and the other one is spicy. I would recommend to try the spicy as it has better flavor, the squid tentacle is not chewy instead pepper salt help to bring out it freshness.
Squidto at Gurney Plaza, overall their squid is special and I can said that it is one of the best deep fried squid we ate before. Squid deep fried to perfection without any chewy texture while the full of flavor rice stuff inside is just delicious.
