Waka Japanese Restaurant is located at Bayview Hotel operated by Mr and Mrs Andrew, Mr.Andrew is professional in F&B field where he previously working in Rasa Sayang Waka Japanese Restaurant but due to restructuring of Rasa Sayang hence he leave the company and together with a few stakeholder they setup Waka in Bayview Hotel, time after time other stakeholder also withdraw from Waka and now left with this lovely couple running the business.
Tempura Moriawase RM25++ which include 3 Prawn and 3 Vegetable or another set Ebi Tempura which consists of 5 Prawns and 1 Mushroom RM25++, both main selling point also it crunchy tempura which is extremely crunchy and not oily. Not only the crunchy tempura but also the fresh prawn use which is sweet and tasty.
Chicken Teriyaki Pizza RM18++ is something unique, creative and special. We has never ate something like this before, great use of rice to replace dough and pan fried it to crispy then top with Teriyaki Chicken and Mayonnaise. My first bite into it really surprise me but it flavor and texture, chicken taste sweet then slight sour taste from the sauce and rice fragrance from the bottom, it sound to be complex but when all mix together it become a great food.
Shake Tataki Maki RM35++, instead of seaweed use to wrap the sushi, they use salmon fish to wrap rice and process crab meat. The whole plate is well presented with such a lovely plating technique, slight fire burn on top of the salmon bring the color more vibrant and create tone between raw and cooked side while the additional sauce on top making it look even better. Salmon is extremely fresh while the vegetable in sushi create a well balanced texture.
Tori Teriyaki RM22 per set(Picture shown is two set) is one of our usual order, it is as well one of the most ordered food in Waka Japanese Restaurant. It must have a reason to get so many “Like”, let me tell you why they get so much “Like”. The chicken has a very crunchy skin while succulent inside while the teriyaki sauce is not too sweet and has good flavor.
Belly Batayaki RM18 nett is one of the promotion items, Salmon Belly is one of the best part throughout the whole Salmon as it has the most fat and all this healthy fat are indeed Omega 3 that desperately needed by my high cholesterol body. Some people might not be enjoy eating this as they claim it too oily but for me it is one of the best, no fancy sauce required as simple pan fried can bring out the best taste from it. At Waka they use butter to pan fried the Salmon Belly to perfection which taste extremely good.
Salmon Fish Head Curry RM30 nett is another promotion items as well. For just RM30 you got to enjoy one half salmon fish head cook with curry sauce, well, i shouldn’t call it curry instead it taste more on Kimchi. Salmon Fish Head is deep fried to perfection then top with the Kimchi made sauce with mushroom. It taste a little bit sour and spicy which is best to go along with steamed rice.
