Five27 is a newly open restaurant and cafe located at Chulia Court. The big restaurant serving international menu on ground floor while cum bar with jazz music at second floor. Five27 perfectly located at the heart of Georgetown Penang where local and tourist can be easily identified the nicely decorated restaurant along Chulia Street. By the way, did i mention that they have huge parking space at the back of their restaurant? Yes, if you coming from Chulia Street, turn right into Carnarvon Street then on the first small alley turn right again and there is one big parking lot.
Moving up to 2nd floor, whole different feeling. It has two area full with sofa which definitely a great to hang out with friends or you may proceed further to have a relax seat next to performance stage where they regularly have live band perform during night time.
Sangria is a wine drink originally from Spain and Portugal which consist of wine, fresh fruits and liquor. It taste sweet and refreshing, not too alcoholic which perfectly smooth to drinks.
LOADED NACHOS (TEX MEX) RM24, served with beef chilli, guacamole, salsa and sour cream. Crispy Nanchos with beef chili and cheese is just awesome, with this plate we can finish a couple of beer for sure.
JAPANESE TUNA TATAKI SALAD (ASIA) RM26, pan seared fresh tuna rolled in sesame seeds with mixed salad leaves, French beans, pearl shallots & boiled egg in a Japanese style ponzu dressing. Tuna is perfectly cook to perfection as you can see from picture chef seal it nicely while maintain raw inside which is the right way to eat fresh Tuna, covering the side with black and white sesame help to boost it flavor together with the sauce making it even awesome.
INDONESIAN OXTAILSOUP (ASIA) RM25, a mildly spiced,clear oxtail soup served with white rice, chilli sambal, achar and crackers. This is and Indonesian style oxtail soup which taste slightly mild compare to what i ate before, it will be good if the soup is thicker with much stronger flavor.
MUSHROOM SOUP (MEDITERRANEAN) RM12, made with a combination of selected mushrooms & garlic bread. Very creamy mushroom soup with chopped assorted mushroom in it, it is one of the top mushroom soup i ever eat although some may complain it too creamy but for us this is what we looking for.
SLOW COOKED LAMB (SCANDINAVIA) RM48, braised for at least three hours so that the meat is very tender, served with mojo rojo sauce, creamed potato and artichoke, citrus apple salad. Should i call it lamb shank? Yes, it indeed the same. Lamb is tender and soft but the sauce is a little bit mild, if i would suggest, mix the mojo rojo sauce and artichoke together then take together with the lamb would be nice.
MEATBALLS (SCANDINAVIA) RM39, Beef meatballs served with creamed potato, brown sauce, cranberry & raspberry jam and pickled cucumber. Pretty special flavor coming out from the sauce as it doesn’t take sauteed as expected instead it taste a little bit sweet, we find the meatball a little bit dry but acceptable.
SPAGHETTI AGLIO OLIO(MEDITERRANEAN) RM25, spaghetti cook with muscle and prawn in garlic and olive oil. Spaghetti is el-dente while the garlic and olive oil added just perfectly match, seafood is fresh and delicious.
PAN FRIED SALMON (SCANDINAVIA) RM33, in a honey & dill mustard sauce with baby potatoes and balsamic caramelized onion. I am impress with the food presentation, it colorful yet simple and totally bring out the focus on Salmon. Simple pan fried salmon with salt enough to bring out the seafood freshness and sweetness.
On dessert next, four different dessert served to us and first we are impress by it presentation and second the portion is just right for it price. Unfortunately we find the dessert too sweet for us and we hope they can reduce the sugar level since not much people enjoy too sweet dessert as well.
