Compare to other Ramadhan Buffet, Sarkies theme more toward International Buffet where you can find some Chinese Food, Indian Food and Japanese Food although majority and specialty food still focus on Malay Food.

Hui Lau Shan 许留山 is located at Gurney Plaza which offer wide range of mango made dessert, instead of franchise they operate it by themselves which has better quality control. We will first introduce the type of mango use by Hui Lau Shan Penang, Thai and Philippine mango are use for all the mango dessert prepare, the different between them is Thai mango taste sweet but lack of mango fragrance while Philippine mango taste sour but has strong mango fragrance, in ordered to create a pure mango puree they use Thai mango as juice since it has more sweetness taste while Philippine mango are cut into cube as topping to create the mango fragrance and texture. With the use of Thai mango which has better sweetness greatly help to reduce the use of sugar in a way create a more healthy dessert.

On top of dessert they do offer light snack such as Curry Combo and Chicken Wing, Hui Lau Shan Signature Curry Combo consists of ingredients such as cuttlefish, fish ball, radish and beancurb puff. Instead of using potato they replace it with radish which has better texture and sweetness, we like the radish very much.

Spicy Sweet Sauce Chicken Wing, first we thought it must be sticky and sweet chicken wing but when the chicken wing served we just realize it is indeed a type of herb from Swiss that use to cook the chicken wing, which taste sweet and mild spiciness. The chicken wing is very delicious which fully absorb the herb essence.

Fresh Mango Mochi, on our last visit the Mochi is pretty hard and we are quite disappointed but on this visit they has better prepare the Mochi which is softer and sticky, the Mochi itself has mild mango flavor while one big piece of mango are stuff in it.

Double Delight Sweetie Ball, this is another type of Mochi with different topping, great use peanut and sesame which create strong peanut fragrance but the mochi is slightly harder for us.

Supreme Coconut Stewed Bird Nest with Harsmar, this is definitely girl favorite. We prefer it serve hot as it has much more coconut fragrance rather than cold which doesn’t has that strong flavor. The Harsmar has a very special springy texture while the coconut milk is so delicious.

This dessert is very special and I like it so much, it name as Tong Ping or I should call it freeze biscuit? Anyhow, first taste like mango cheese cake but it is actually cream cake, it is very delicious and special.

They call this dessert coconut noodle, that is because they use coconut to make noodle shape dessert. The coconut noodle has very strong coconut flavor and it is indeed coconut flesh which go well with the mango ice cream.

I believe everyone been waiting a long time for this, the Hong Kong famous dessert shop Hui Lau Shan 许留山. When we travel to Hong Kong two years back we eat twice there and we just love their dessert. After few years it now finally open it first ever shop in Gurney Plaza, Penang.

Hui Lau Shan 许留山 start their business back in 1960 in Hong Kong, famous for it Herbal Jelly 龟苓膏 and various type of herbal tea. They create the first Mango Sago at 1990 and that Mango Sago dessert make them famous until today. After many years of brand establishment, finally they open their branch in China and now in Malaysia. In Malaysia you can visit their shop at Berjaya Time Square KL, Pavilion KL, Cheras Leisure Mall, One Utama, The Mines Selangor and Gurney Plaza Penang.

 Mango Romance RM12.90, three different type of dessert are served together, it like a starter plate. Since this is the first time we here hence we just want to try many different type of dessert. We saw lot of couple ordered the same dish and I bet they must be having the same thought.

The very first small bowl of dessert is ice cream with jelly served with fresh mango, the jelly is a little bit chewy while the mango is too ripe, it has become a little bit mushy.

 Next small bowl is blended mango served with glutinous rice ball. Pure mango blended with no water added create a very rich and sticky mango juice, it was pretty good to go along with glutinous rice ball since it can stick with the flavourless glutinous rice ball.

 Mango Ball wrapped with shredded coconut and few slice of fresh mango, the same comment here for the over ripe mango.

Ganoderma Herbal Jelly灵芝龟苓膏 RM7.90, I have high hope on their Herbal Jelly as it was their signature dish and it also their very first product when Hui Lau Shan establish many years back. After tasting it I feel disappointed, the Herbal Jelly just doesn’t has enough herbal taste, it doesn’t has the authentic bitter taste and the worst is syrup given instead of honey.

Honestly Hong Kong Hui Lan Shan is much better compare to Penang, the food presentation here is a little bit unorganised and mango is too ripe as well.

Stewed Mushroom with Fat Choy, Fat Choy mean prosperity and this dish is a must for Chinese during Chinese New Year as Chinese believe eating this during festive season can help to grow their wealth. Fat Choy is a terrestrial cyanobacterium and look like black hair and has no flavor, has soft texture after soaking into water and it can be use to cook soup as well.

Boiled Prawn with Rice Wine, big fresh prawn is used to boiled with rice wine. The rice wine doesn’t has strong wine flavor instead the mild taste making it taste better which as well help to bring out sweetness of prawn.

Steamed Red Snapper In Soya Sauce, one of the best recipe to cook fresh fish is to steamed it with soy sauce which allow you to taste the originality sweetness from fish meat, red snapper provided is right on size where the meat is soft and smooth while the soy sauce has soy flavor instead of just salty.

Fried Rice in Lotus Leaves, lotus leave use to wrap fried rice that has ingredients such as dried shrimps, dried mushroom, shallot, preserved sausage and spring onions which team steam to allow lotus leave fragrance absorb into fried rice. By the time we having this dish we are overloaded but it still tasty.

Honey Dew Sago, as usual this is our favorite dessert and Sea Palace did a good job in this dessert. Sago is well cook which is soft and not mushy while the additional present of vanilla ice cream making it slight creamy and milk flavor which indeed taste much more better than those without vanilla ice cream.
