Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat 紫薇園魚頭火炭爐

Finally make our move to the famous steamboat restaurant at Raja Uja, heard of the famous name since long time ago but the location is far from where I use to dine hence never visit this place before. Finally decided to drive one hour down the road to Raja Uda and try the famous Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat, luckily we arrive quite early as the shop start to pack after 7pm.

Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat is an open air shop without any air con but with lot of fans, you won’t feel heat even the burning steamboat just in front of you. They have various package depend on headcount and you may top up other ingredients as well.

Joo Heng Restaurant Tom Yam Mee

Joo Heng located just beside Raja Uda main road, famous for Self Selection Tom Yam Mee.

A lot variety to be add on, various type of fish ball, mushroom, fresh prawn, minced meat, vegetable, deep fried fish meat and etc.
No price display, just take whatever you want and choose your soup, either Tom Yam or Plain Soup with either Maggie Mee or Bihun.
The highlight is the deep fried fish meat, fresh and crunchy.

Chef will cook one by one, so quite a long waiting time during peak hour.

I took pork skin, 1 fish ball and a lot deep fried fish meat which come to a price of RM6 only, it was not well presented as they are too busy.
The Tom Yam soup is not really taste like normal Tom Yam soup instead its distinct hot and sour flavors, very appetite.
Highlight again on the deep fried fish meat, you get big piece of fish meat instead of flour. Crunchy even dip into Tom Yam soup for sometime.

Lobster Baked Cheese at Ah Keat Seafood Restaurant Raja Uda

Having a 10 person dinner at Ah Keat Seafood Restaurant located in Raja Uda, Butterworth. This shop is well known for their huge variety of rare seafood like Geoduck, Snow Crab, Alaska Crab, Lobster…etc and for sure the price is never cheap for good stuff.


Scottland Bread Crab, never know that Scottland famous for it Crab as well.

Alaskan Crab on the left and unsure species on the right, which look very meaty, should be delicious.

Our first dish is Geoduck Shashimi RM267, first time in my life to taste it out but came out to be a huge dissapointment especially for such a high price it just don’t on par with it’s value.
Geoduck was sliced into small pieces and put on top of big plate of ice, Geoduck meat is hard and tasteless.

Cha Mou (Fried Porridge) RM15, normal.

Butter Alaska Crab RM190, you may say it is cheap right? Price is after 50% discount because this crab is just dead, but it was still very fresh.
Very generous amount of butter use to cook make the crab very tasty and each of us only got to eat one crab leg.

Mantis Prawn Salted Egg RM104, it was quite expensive as the 4 mantis prawn is not really big in size. Salted egg is always a good combination for seafood same goes to this dish delicious and flavorable just that the portion is small and expensive.

Lemon Steamed Lala RM12, fresh sweet Lala cook with Lemon and little bit of spicy make us very appetite.

Lobster RM296 for below two dishes, my experience always tell that Lobster is not nice as the meat is rough and hard, while the price is expensive.
Lobster Fried With Cheese, creamy, salty, sour tell the flavor for this dish. Fresh Lobster but as per my expectation, Lobster meat always hard and rough.

Lobster Baked Cheese, very good presentation but the flavor is just normal compare to Cheese Fried Lobster.

Pi Kelabu RM12, now it hard to get Pi anymore as it was very rare. The taste is actually terrible and taste like plastic ball, YES plastic ball so you can imagine how bad is it? Totally negative for me.

Our dessert of the day is Deep Fried Ice Cream, Ice Cream wrapped inside a layer of flour then freeze it, deep fried to golden color while ice cream inside just started to melt.

Overall food is good but Lobster and Geoduck pulling down our overall satisfaction level.

Overall rated as 3 as the price is slightly higher compare to other seafood restaurant but seafood freshness is tip top.

Khuntai Thai Food Restaurant

Original Thai Cuisine, by KhunTai Restaurant. Located in one of the hidden spot in Raja Uda, even though it was so secretly located in one of the small road but it was so popular and attract people from everywhere.


You can take lunch and dinner in this restaurant as their operation hour is from 11AM – 12AM

Original Taste, Authentic Thai Flavor

Spaces environment make the dining experience very relax and enjoy.

Big mantis prawn.

Tom Yam Seafood, strong Tom Yam flavor with fresh prawn, squid and fish meat. It a must try dish.

Big fresh prawn.

Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab, oily and full of flour. Not recommended.

Order a few vegetable to bring down our cholesterol level.


This Tofu is very special and tasty.

Tang Hun Claypot Crab, one of my favorite. Tang Hun absorb the sweetness of crab and source use to cook make the Tang Hun rich of flavor. Simply awesome.

Sizzling Cheese Prawn, the source make the prawn even tasty together with rice.

A lot of chili and garlic with Lala(Shell), sour and spicy make you asking for more rice.

Special dish, fried egg with vegetable. Vegetable is crunchy, put some Tom Yam sour make it even tasty.

Deep Fried Squid, KhunTai is not really good in deep fried as most of the deep fried dish is oily.

Baked Crab, big crab and amazing fresh.

Overall, KhunTai is well recommended for its original Thai Cuisine.
