Salwa Mee Udang at Teluk Kumbar

Salwa Mee Udang located just next to “Lover Bridge”, but sadly “Lover Bridge” was now closed due to poor condition.
We ordered one plate of Mee Udang only as we know the price is expensive and we just finish Balik Pulau Laksa .

By the time we reach at around 5pm, chef is yet to be ready and we are the first customer as well. So we walk around the beach and taking some photo, nice view in this fishing village with a lot of boats.
Salwa Mee Udang not only serving Mee Udang instead they served Kari Ketam, Udang, pari…and a lot more, more toward Chu Cha style but famous for their Mee Udang.

Environment is open air concept, sit next to the beach and feel the strong wind blowing is so relaxing.

When the Mee Udang served, we will surprise and asking each other where is the prawn? After some digging and finding we just realize they put prawns under the mee, why not on top for good presentation? Weird.

We found 6 big white prawns and arrange it nicely for photographing purpose, else our reader sure curve why we eat mee kosong. Right?
Yellow Mee cook with Tomato sauce, garnished with some onions, red chilies and spring onions, not really strong flavor gravvy but it just nice.
Prawn is big and fresh, meat is tender. This bowl of noodle cost us RM16, I would say it slightly expensive but you pay for 6 big prawns is well worth it.

Overall this shop is good for their big fresh prawn, recommended.

Balik Pulau Kim Laksa

Laksa is one of the well known Penang Food, every visitor come to Penang must not miss out this dish.
Has not visit to Balik Pulau for very long time, miss the Laksa and decided to drive all the way just to recap my memory.
Was shocked when I saw the old market has been left abandoned and Laksa stall is no longer there, quite disappointed and sad but luckily kopitiam beside got another (or same?) Laksa stall.
I not sure whether this tall is the old memory Laksa or different stall but since we are here already so might as well give it a try.

Kim Laksa located in small kopitiam name Nan Guang, opposite there is another Laksa stall but seem to be no people so we just ignore it.
RM2.50 for a bowl of Laksa, it was pretty cheap. We tried Asam Laksa, according to some review Siam Laksa is actually quite tasty as well, will try it out on next visit.

Rice noodle in a thick sour soup, included cucumber, pineapple, mint leaves, onions and most important ginger torch flower with some Shrimp paste(Hae Ko).
Sour soup is delicious with slightly spicy taste and Hae Ko further enhance it flavor. Yummy.

Remember not to miss the Nutmeg Drink with Plum, it was once of the local delicacy.

Famous Pork Noodle in Parit Buntar

Lean Hong Kopitiam located in Parit Buntar, unintentionally visited this kopitiam due to most of the shop closed on Wednesday. At first we don’t even know what they this stall selling as signboard was covered, we just try our luck.
Went into kopitiam and only one stall “Ah Ma Pork Noodle”.

This kopitiam is rather old and hot, not really a good environement.
Option to choose for Koay Teow or Maggie Mee, Small RM3.50 and Big RM4.00.

We ordered big bowl which is RM4, portion is big.
Pork blood, minced pork meat, slice pork meat, pork liver and pork skin is covering the whole bowl of noodle.
First taste of the of soup and I was surprise by the sweetness and tastiness, meat is tender soft and pork blood delicious.
Remember to take a lot of the chili paste to be dip, as the chili paste is tasty and not so spicy.

Compare to Nibong Tebal Pork Noodle , Ah Mah Pork Noodle is a lot more delicious on their soup. Well recommended this pork noodle to everyone.

Air Itam Curry Mee Near Kek Lok Si

Air Itam Market Curry Mee located just before the famous Air Itam Laksa, business start from 1PM till finish which normally before 5PM.
On road side but no stoping or parking because this area is crowded, you may turn into small road before this hawker and park inside.

Curry Mee~RM2.50 was cook and served by few teenager, they are so efficient. Curry Mee serve just after we sit down for 2 minutes.

Spicy curry soup with Mee and Bee Hun, mint leave was added to enrish it flavor. This curry mee come with pig blood, taupok, and cuttlefish. We add extra cuttlefish(+RM1), because some Curry Mee stall use raw cuttlefish but this stall they marinated the cuttlefish with chili paste and it taste superb.
The extra chili paste spice up the soup and making the curry look more reddish.

Big bowl of marinated cuttlefish, it is soft and spicy. Yummy~

Ordered Fresh Coconut~RM3.50 and Cendol~Rm1.50 which operate by old Uncle and Aunty, we finish out Curry Mee but drink is yet to served and Fresh Coconut was quite expensive compare to other Kopitiam.

Red Bean is soft and nice but the Chendol(Green Color) is freezing hard.

Rate only for the Curry Mee as the drink is normal.

Le Dynastie Dim Sum at Farlim

Le Dynastie Dim Sum was newly open Dim Sum restaurant in Farlim, they just started operation on 15/5/2010.
Location is not so noticeable as it not facing main road and no advertisement like banner or whatsoever nearby.

Environment is spaces and clean, but not much crowd even on Sunday morning while nearby Red Tea Garden Dim Sum are pack with people.

Jin Deui~Left, chewy dough filled with Lin Yong, sesame on outer skin and deep fried. The skin is not crispy while dough is not chewy.
Woh Tip~Top Right (Potsticker), deep fried dumpling with minced pork inside. Pork meat is dry and not much flavour.
Jian Ha Gao(Deep Fried Hao Gao)~Bottom Right, deep fried shrimp dumpling was crispy and delicious.

Hao Gao (Shrimp Dumpling)~Top Left, Steamed dumpling with whole shrimp filling was nice and the skin is thin and transparent.
Siew Mai~Top Right, Steamed dumpling fill with chopped pork and prawn with fish role on top as decoration. Delicious.
TauFu Dim Sum~Bottom, is new and special where fish paste (aka fish ball) was fill on top of Japanese Tau Fu, fish paste is Q and tasty while Tau Fu is soft, fill with home made sauce make it very tasty.

Pork Meat Roll with Sweet and Sour Sauce~Top, No~ No~ for this dim sum as it is very sweet.
Fung Zao(Phoenix Talons)~Bottom, sauce taste like vinegar and tipping sauce(Sweet). Not bad.

These fluffy buns (Cha Siew Pao) was not good, the Char Siew inside is not so tasty and it taste more to salty instead of sweet salty.
Egg Tart, crust is crispy but egg custard is too sweet for me.

Fish Ball is normal.

Xiao Long Pao, is a failure. Why I said so? Because the skin is not Q and just a little soup inside the Pao, while the meat is rough and tasteless.

Price wise consider reasonable, spend RM36 for 5 persons.
Overall food is not good compare to other Dim Sum restaurant, but service is excellent, they help to refill water every now and then.
