Suffolk House Restaurant Course Meal

Suffolk House is one of the famous fine dining restaurant in Penang and also previously serve as a residence of Francis Light who found the Penang Island. Entrance fees of RM10 required but it can be deducted from expenses in the restaurant. Lunch 4 course meal starting from RM42 until RM98, Chicken, Fish, Steak all available on the menu. Start with soup of the day, pumpkin soup with herbs which taste pretty good, rich and creamy. While on main course we had seabass and steak, seabass are deep fried to crusted skin served on top of green pea puree with side salad. Seabass has extermely crunchy skin but the overall flavor are just normal. Steak and Hand Cut Chip 200gram grain fed sirloin RM82 served with red wine jus and assorted buttered vegetable. Steak are nicely cook to tender and juicy, the red wine sauce taste pretty good as well. We then have a dessert and a cup of coffee. That conclude our lunch, excellent environment and food taste not bad as well. Great place for a romantic dating.

Christmas Dinner at David Brown Restaurant at Penang Hill

David Brown is one of the restaurant located at the top of Penang Hill offering great variety of Western Food. Spending a romantic dinner during the Christmas month at David Brown restaurant will for sure promise a great memory. We visit around 7pm just after raining and it is really wonderful, the weather is so cold and feel exactly like Genting Highland.

Christmas menu available throughout December month except 24-12-2015 and 25-12-2015. Only RM98++ per pax for such a wonderful dinner set is really worth the value consider the location and the food quality.

Traditional Roast Turkey, special menu during Christmas. Turkey is a must during Christmas and I am so impress with the soft and juicy Turkey meat served here, it is so smooth in texture and the special sauce served make it a perfect combination.

Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon, two big portion of Salmon pan grilled to perfection, the Salmon skin is very crispy while the fish meat retain the fish oil fragrance.

Rack of Lamb, we ate this dish on our last visit and it is one of the best lamb we ever had, same goes to this dish. It is still as good as last visit and we just love the perfectly cook lamb that taste awesome.

Chocolate Mousse Cake with Caramelized Banana, Coconut Gelee, Pop Corn & Berries. You have to cut through the cake and caramelized banana then eat together to have the special flavor, chocolate has very strong flavor while banana neutralize the bitter taste of chocolate to create a balanced flavor.

Sajo Cafe Sarawak Kolo Mee at Air Itam Penang

Although I stay in Air Itam area but I never know there is a new restaurant open up until few weeks back, the new restaurant name Sajo Cafe selling Sarawak Kolo mee which you can’t find it anywhere in Penang (as what we know, share with us if you know some where else got). We are so excited as the last try was few years back where my friends bought it from Sarawak and bring it over to KL for us to try during study time. Finally we got the chance to try Sarawak famous Kolo Mee again.
The restaurant is located just beside Air Itam Police Station, parking available at road side or surrounding area. Restaurant is very small and simple, without any renovation as well but it do have air-con.

We had Lime Juice and Milo, I like the Milo very much. Very generous amount of Milo are added on top, it remind of those old time where I eat Milo without any water. Great Memory!

Bee Wei Chinese Restaurant located at Jalan Air Itam, if you coming from town then it will be on your left side. Parking is a big problem in this area as only limited “illegal” parking lot available else you need to park at the housing area or opposite and cross the main road. Try to be there as early as possible as their service is not that fast and always full house around 7 something.

Sweet and Sour Pork (Ku Lou Yok) RM10, deep fried pork meat cook with sweet and sour sauce, too bad that the deep fried pork is not crispy enough else it would be perfect.

Belacan Chicken RM10, chicken is nicely marinated with belacan sauce and deep fried to very crispy skin, the meat is full of flavor and taste extremely good.

Sambal Kangkung RM8, i think they increase the price slightly but it still worth is as you can see 3 big prawn are use to cook together with kangkung, nevertheless the spicy sambal still taste very good.

Claypot Tofu RM9, mixture of assorted vegetable cook with tofu in thick sauce.

Stir Fried Kailan RM8, same as sambal kangkung where big prawn are bring added. This dish is nicely cook to have great wok hei and flavor.

David Brown Western Food Restaurant Penang Hill

It been so so long ago on my last visit to Penang Hill, the last visit was few years back when me and my friends hike from Botanical Garden to Penang Hill and down the hill with train. Penang Hill train station has been renovated and the new multi level parking also in operation now, the parking lot is RM2 first hour and RM1 for subsequent hour.

Train return ticket price is RM10 for MyKad holder while RM30 for Non-MyKad holder. Honestly it is quite expensive consider the short distance and lack of scenery, it is pretty cramp inside as well.

Penang Hill has since then developed to such as nice tourist attraction.

Owl Museum is another top attraction at Penang Hill as well, it is not too big and fill with nice Owl related art. Just put a couple picture rather than all picture so that you can explore it yourself. It is quite a value for money tour through the museum, whole lot of Owl related art display at every corner of the museum.

Coming out from the Owl Museum and climb up the stair case to food court, you can enjoy local delicacy here.

Top of the building are Love Lock, where you can tie a love lock with your love one. Normal love shape lock RM20++ while the gold color metal lock cost RM40++, honestly it is quite pricey but you can prepare your own lock and lock it here.

You can enjoy a great meal at Michael Brown restaurant which is the highest restaurant in Penang(for sure, since it on top of Penang Hill..LOL).

The restaurant is a bungalow located on top of Penang Hill and surrounded with tree, a big pond in front of the restaurant with glass all over the surrounding area.

Due to the fact that a lot mosquito in this area so the restaurant will provide mosquito repellent upon request, they are planting a type of plant that eat mosquito and hopefully can get rid of the blood sucker.

Smoked Salmon Salad RM22, assorted fresh crunchy vegetable mix with smoked salmon that taste refreshing and a great start for our meal.

Waldorf Salad RM15, assorted fresh fruits mix with mayonnaise and walnuts, personally I like this salad compare to the other two as fresh fruits sweetness and crunchy texture taste much better.

Cream of Mushroom RM18, assorted mushroom crunch together for this bowl of mushroom soup, it has very strong mushroom aroma and creamy texture.

Mulligatawny Soup RM20, served with lime and rice. It has very strong herb flavor and taste very much like Indian curry, it is a little bit strong in flavor for soup but nevertheless it still taste good.

Pan Grilled Seafood Combo RM108, combination of muscle, prawn, squid, scallop and salmon fish. I like the scallop the most as it is perfectly cook to a little bit chewy texture, same goes to fish and squid but for prawn personally i think overloaded with mayonnaise.

Grilled Seabass Fillet RM58, two big pieces of Seabass fillet grilled to a little bit char texture on the skin while maintain juiciness on fish meat, I like the simple preparation for a nice piece of fish meat.

David Brown’s Classic Chicken Chop RM32, chicken was nicely marinated and grilled, it has very soft texture and taste good with the pepper sauce.

Cottage Pie RM38, two layer “cake”. Top layer are fill with cheese mash tomato while the bottom layer are minced beef, bottom layer has very strong flavor which goes well balanced with the top layer mash potato but this large portion highly recommended for sharing.

Roast Rack of Lamb RM68, honestly this is the best dish for me. The rack is perfectly cook to soft and succulent, not chewy and full of flavor. Too bad Jazz took a portion of it (shhhh), else I would have finish it by my own.

Bombe Alaska RM48, a dessert that has the “show” effect, why? Because they will pour alcohol on top of it and fire up, the white color is cream while inside fill with ice cream and fruits.
