Red Courtyard Hunan Cuisine Restaurant at King Street Penang

Red Courtyard is one of the only one authentic Hunan cuisine restaurant located in Penang. Offering authentic Hunan cuisine from chef that originating from Hunan with wealth experience in food and beverage. A lot people confuse Hunan with Sichuan as both do use great amount of chili to showcase their dishes but the main different is Hunan use non process ingredients compare to preserved ingredients use by Sichuan and after tasting Hunan dishes we found no numb feeling, that make Hunan & Sichuan different.

Sour Plum Drink, remember to try this special cook drink as it go through long hour of cooking with many different herb. It taste sweet and sourish with mild herb fragrance.

Special Chili sauce can be added to increase some spicy taste or as dipping sauce. By the way, in order to allow everybody has the chance to try their special made chili sauce, there is 3 different type of chili sauce available for purchase and each bottle cost only RM10 – RM13.

Beef Hotpot RM88, served with Premium Sirloin, Beef Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Emperor Vegetable, Baby Cabbage, White Cabbage, Bean Sprout, Shitake Mushroom & Flat Mushroom. Beef soup are the key element of this dish as a delicious soup make the whole thing perfect. Every scoop are full of surprise as there is so many different beef ingredients in the hotpot.

The Legend Nyonya House

The Legend Nyonya House as the name suggest Nyonya as their specialize dish with impressive Nyonya dishes all over the menu, restaurant decoration infuse with Nyonya element which gave a very elegant feeling. Situated at Chulia Street Ghaut which right beside The Press and Container Hotel Penang, ample of parking lot available at road side.

Furniture and decoration are from the Nyonya generation, every aspect are well taken care of. It is very comfortable dining inside.

Utensils are as well very antique feel.

Acar, combination of carrot and cucumber fermented in vinegar and top with crunchy peanut. It taste sourish and sweet.

Pickle Onion, nicely fermented pickled onion taste sweet without spicy taste.

Lemongrass Drink, extremely strong lemongrass with ginger after taste. It has a little bit of spicy taste as well, it is very healthy drinks.

Jiu Hu Char RM18, Special turnip with shredded cuttlefish. It served with a bowl of green coral which can be use to wrap with Jiu Hu Char, it is a perfect combination and i can finish a whole bowl myself.

Jiu Hu Char incorporated whole lot of shredded cuttlefish which gave a seafood fragrance and saltiness into the sweet vegetable, it is very delicious. Continue reading The Legend Nyonya House

New Dragon Gate Seafood Village Restaurant

New Dragon Gate Seafood Village Restaurant located behind Viva Food Court (Small alley beside Chinese Swimming Club). As usual they always stock with fresh seafood such as lobster, crab, different kind of fishes and all other type of seafood as well.

金沙蒜焗生蠔 Garlic Butter Baked Oyster, honestly I am not a big fans of oyster as I can’t really find fresh oyster in local market but I am very impress with the way they cook it with garlic and butter that make it taste awesomely good. Oyster are extremely fresh and big in size, it has very smooth texture with milky taste.

干贝鱼汤菌浸时蔬 Stir Fried Vegetable with Dried Scallop and Mushroom, the soup sweet taste extract from fish and dried scallop are very tasty. Topping with fish skin are special and taste good.

风味酱蒸石斑件 Steamed Grouper Fish with Special Sauce, the special sauce taste sweet with soy bean after taste. Slice fish meat is very fresh and sweet but we found the sauce taste a little bit too strong and overpower the fresh fish meat. Continue reading New Dragon Gate Seafood Village Restaurant

Anson Park Seafood Restaurant

We use to visit Anson Park Seafood Restaurant frequently until they move to somewhere and we lost contact, now they move back to Anson Park and continue to served great food again. Spaces sitting area with ample of parking space available, very convenient for family dinner.

Mini Seafood Pot RM28 (Pre-order required), each pot are steamed individually to create the sweet taste, black chicken are added to create the special sweetness while other seafood help to boost it flavor even more.

Steamed Clam RM20, extremely fresh clam cook with sweet and sour sauce. It is so delicious especially the meaty clam that taste so delicious.

Crispy Duck RM35, duck are perfectly deep fried to crispy texture and duck meat are flavorful as well.

Salted Egg Bitter Gord, something special! We have never eat something like this before and it indeed very special.

Thai Style Deep Fried Pork Knuckle RM32 (Two Portion in Picture), deep fried to crispy skin served with spicy and sour sauce.

Butter Prawn, fragrance of butter overwhelm our palate but it never took over the prawn freshness, both create a well balanced flavor.

Nyonya Steamed Fish, thick nyonya sauce served with fresh red fish. Fish are fresh and the nyonya sauce really stood out as it has very strong flavor which goes well with steamed rice.

Soon Lai is my family favorite restaurant, we always dine there no matter what occasion. Be there early to get a good seating inside air-con room else you have to sit outside without air-con. Service is pretty fast even full house.

Salty Egg Crab is our favorite of the night. Crab is extremely big size and fresh, crab meat is extremely firm and solid, it taste so sweet as well. Salty egg coating making it taste salty and sweet which are so delicious.
