MTR1924, so what is MTR and what about 1924? Well, Mavalli, Tiffin, Rooms is what MTR about while 1924 is establishment of the brand. If you have been to Bangalore you will know how established this restaurant, long queue everyday and it a precious moment to whoever step into the restaurant. Nearest branches outside of India is Singapore but for those Indian food lover you are lucky because now you can get it in KL.
Interior are clean and simple with history board running across the wall.
Great variety in the menu and we are overwhelmed. We want to try everything, all look special.
Few Highlight before we get into delicious food. – Spices are import from India – Item in the menu are fully tested and qualified by the MTR owner, guarantee same taste and flavor with the original shop. – Pretty much every dish served with ghee which are commonly used in Indian community – Chef are coming from MTR headquarter and will be permanently stay for quality control.
Rice Idly RM6, Steamed rice & black gram cakes, served with green chutney & lentil sambhar. Let start with something simple but yet delicious, normally Rice Idly tends to stick together with firm texture but Rice Idly totally different, it is extremely fluffy and soft in texture.
“Gala House” housed in the heritage building along Lebuh Muntri is a restaurant, café & bar that offer vast selection of burger, pasta and meat. The name has been established for quite a few years and since gaining popularity among local and tourist, setup is more of retro with a VW van as decoration.
Clam in Wine & Fresh Herbs Broth RM18, fresh and big clam cook with Sauvignon Blanc seasoning with cilantro, chilies, onions and fresh lime juice. Strong wine fragrance boost up clam natural sweetness.
This is our very first experience in cooking using Hai Di Lao Mala Paste, surprisingly this paste taste good.
We do add one extra Dried Chili as we prefer it to be more spicy, you can use the original package without extra which taste pretty good as well.
Remember to use slow heat for the whole cooking process (Except deep fried prawn and potato), slow heat ensure dried chili perfectly cook and extract nice flavor out.
You can cook with prawn or crab but personally I perfect prawn as it can fully absorb the spicy taste.

Pu Er Tea, from the first sip we can tell the different with other dim sum restaurant, tea served here are very smooth and have strong tea fragrance.
鮑魚仔燒賣 Bao Yu Zai Siew Mai, steamed mini abalone Siew Mai. Big chunk of chicken meat and prawn nicely season to flavor, topping with mini abalone.
腊味韭菜餃 Lap Mei Gap Choy Gao, steamed chive dumpling with Chinese sausage. If you are fan of Chinese Sausage like me then you will like this steamed dumpling as it has very strong sweet taste from Chinese Sausage and good bite texture from chive.
紅油鮮蝦水餃 Hong Yao Shui Gao, steamed prawn dumpling with chili oil.
