Bye Bye Don Muang Airport

*This review is part of our Bangkok 2012 Travel.

Good Morning! Sad! Sad! Sad! We are about to leave Bangkok and back to Malaysia, waking up in the morning, bath and prepare to go home. Just before we leave Tune Hotel she say she miss out something and guess what she miss? Oh Yea! Naraya bag, she say she doesn’t buy enough Naraya Bag. I was like “OMG, Serious?” and the reply is “Yes”. Grr…

We then decided to go Siam Discovery Naraya for her last shopping. Check out hotel then carry out big bag and taking BTS to Siam Station. Walking down the stair with our huge luggage and walk our way to Siam Discovery, pretty tired even though the distance is not that far. She happily make her purchase while I sit and wait outside, this is her 3rd visit to Naraya and 3rd purchase as well within one trip to Bangkok and it not end yet. Continue read then you will know.

After she happily bought what she want then we take BTS and stop at BTS Mochit for Taxi ride to Don Muang Airport.

Just be extra careful with the Taxi driver because he charge us additional $100 per head on top of meter, we should have challenge him but at that time we did not do that, regret after he leave. Damn! We feel cheated as my friend told me he did not get extra charge to go Don Muang Airport.

Going into Air Port, Check in and walking around. We saw Fuji Japanese restaurant but sadly we are too full and not able to eat anymore, walking down she saw NARAYA again. She immediately walk inside and a few bag coming out again. How come girl can be so addicted to Naraya? Em…..

Naraya Nightmare! HaHa!

Alright, that the end of our Bangkok travel. I hope you enjoy reading our Bangkok 2012 Travel and if you have any question feel free to comment below, facebook us or email us.

Bye Bye to Bangkok!

Somboon Seafood Bangkok Near MRT Huai Kwang

*This review is part of our Bangkok 2012 Travel.

Once again we return to Somboon Seafood Restaurant, actually I miss the Grilled Fresh Water Prawn but sadly the transportation and distance to T&K Seafood is not that convenient hence I decided to go Somboon since it just beside MRT Huai Kwang Station. I told myself two items I must eat before I went back to Malaysia which is Deep Fried Sea Bass and Grilled Fresh Water Prawn.

Deep Fried Sea Bass with Sweet Fishsauce $380, sea bass is perfectly cut into half and split across the plate, sea bass deep fried to golden color which gave a crispy texture while it remain juicy inside, sweet fish sauce is added at the bottom to give extra flavor. The sweet fish sauce has slight sautéed together with sweet taste which goes so well with the fish.

Deep Fried Sea Bass with Sweet Fishsauce

Piquant Glass Noodle with Pork and Shrimps $100, shallot, dried shrimp, pork minced, spring onion, chili with 2 big prawn mixing with sweet and spicy sauce, it is extremely appetizing. Glass noodle fully absorb the sauce which make it taste very flavorful.

Piquant Glass Noodle with Pork and Shrimps

Deep Fried Mince Prawn Ball $150, crispy deep fried prawn minced that has very strong prawn flavor and springy texture, taking it with the plum sauce provided is very delicious.

Deep Fried Mince Prawn Ball

Grilled Fresh Water Prawn $400, this is what I come here for tonight but sadly the fresh water prawn is not as good as T&K Seafood, it not as fresh compare to T&K Seafood and it slightly overcook as well. I remember in T&K the grilled fresh water prawn is very springy and the head is very juicy but not here. T&K fresh water prawn also much more cheaper.

 Grilled Fresh Water Prawn

Crab Fried Rice $100, whole lot of egg use to fried rice but sadly the rice is a little but too soft and the crab meat is just add on top instead of stir fried together, the crab meat and rice seem like two different thing that doesn’t form one single dish.

Crab Fried Rice

Overall the food is still above average but today selected dish is not as good as our first visit and for grilled fresh water prawn still T&K Seafood better.

Time to sleep, after taking seafood dinner it time for us to go back hotel and prepare to go back Malaysia the next day.

Bangkok Shopping and Erawan Shine

*This review is part of our Bangkok 2012 Travel.

Shopping in Bangkok has become one of the key item in most tourist itinerary, Bangkok has a street full with shopping complex offer wide range of product at reasonable price. It not only the shopping complex instead at road side there is stall selling cheap product until midnight, it definitely a shopping spree.

The best way to shop in Bangkok is to stop at BTS Chitlom Station and start your day by showing respect to Erawan Shine. It is walking distance to Erawan Shine through elevated walkway, from the walkway you can see the whole Erawan Shine. You can come at evening time or night since it not that hot compare to afternoon under hot sun shine.

Erawan Shine

Erawan Shine

You can purchase joss stick package for reasonable price inside the Erawan Shine, we pay $50 for bigger flower, candle and joss stick. Remember to avoid buying from outside vendor as they sell at much higher price.

Erawan Shine

It is very important that you sincere while praying, some people will tell you to pray clockwise but some said anti-clockwise. I would say just follow the crowd since it always full of people there and we go clockwise.

You may start with the first Buddha by telling “I am { } coming from { }, my wish is { }, if my wish come true I will return { }. Thanks” , do the same for the rest of the Buddha. Just bear in mind that what you promise must be deliver. Some people will hire dancer for an amount to dance for the Buddha as well.

Lot of sincere prayer either local or tourist are praying even under hot sun.

Erawan Shine

After praying we lost our way, luckily got one friendly uncle come over and guide us. He share with us that on the floor there is actually a map showing where is the direction. Like picture below, 12 o’clock is Silom, 3 o’clock is SiamSquare, 6 o’clock is Rachadamri and 9 o’clock is Chitlom. It actually pretty simple but really help when you lost your way.

Road Sign

The Papaya Salad we had has a lot ingredients in it such as crispy pork skin, dried red shrimp, tomato, long bean, peanut, green papaya, chicken ham and rice noodle. It season with special made sweet and sour sauce which taste sweet, sour and a little bit spicy after taste. It indeed very delicious and appetite.
