Gangnam Style previously known as Korean Palace is now having BBQ buffet for just RM35 per person by purchasing through Groupon voucher. Two of us with another couple go and enjoy the fantastic buffet together and we truly enjoy it. If you are interested, feel free to check out The Best Steamboat Buffet.
BBQ Meat

A la carte buffet with beef, pork and chicken. Served together with soup and rice.
Not only that, it include refillable side dishes and free flow of tea.

Unlimited refillable side dishes such as fresh salad, kimchi, spicy potato, spicy cucumber…etc, most of it is vegetable which is just nice since we going to take a lot of meat.
Korean Side Dishes

Kimchi Jjigae is very delicious as it has very strong kimchi taste which is spicy and sour which goes well with the BBQ meat.

Before our BBQ meat served, they give us one big plate of Korean Pancakes. It is a vegetable pancakes which is pretty delicious.

and another place of Fried Glass Noodle Korean Style, it has mushroom, assorted vegetable and top with sesame. The glass noodle extremely springy and it has very strong pepper taste which we really enjoy it so much, we actually screen through the menu to look for this dishes but too bad it seem to be a special item which not found in menu.
Fried Glass Noodle Korean Style

Korean BBQ dipping sauce or i should call it wrapping sauce since we use this sauce to wrap together with vegetable and meat. It has Korean BBQ Sauce, Garli, Chili and Sesame oil.

Here is the list of meat option.

Pork
Pork Ribs, Pig Trotters, Thin Sliced Pork Belly, Pork Belly, Pork Bulgogi, Pork Shoulder

Chicken
Chicken Bulgogi, Spicy Seasoned Chicken, Sweet Seasoned Chicken

Beef
Intercoastal Meat, Seasoned Ribs, Seasoned Ribs LA Style, Sliced Brisket, Sliced Tongue, Seasoned Sliced Tongue, Seasoned Beef Bulgogi, Seasoned Oxtail, Beef Shoulder

We eat almost everything and we highly recommend Pork Bulgogi, Chicken Bulgogi, Spicy Seasoned Chicken, Seasoned Ribs, Seasoned Sliced Tongue and Seasoned Beef Bulgogi. We did not like the Pig Trotters and those without seasoning meat.

You got to choose what you want from the menu and how big for each portion, for the very first round we choose 4 meat with 2 portion each and it come out to be pretty big portion. Each plate served with a couple of mushroom and meat of your choice. As you can see from picture below, most of the portion is huge and generous, all meat is well prepare and thick cut (except Beef Tougue which need to be thin slice). Look at the big portion, if we going to eat like this in Daore, it going to cost a bomb.

In process, we just like the BBQ smell. For some reason, the hot plate just doesn’t stick no matter how long we cook, pretty good. Those meat look good right? Yeah, it is very good especially those seasoning meat which taste wonderful and the most important is that all are fresh.

Isaribi Tei Japanese Restaurant

*This restaurant is listed in Top Japanese Restaurant in Penang

We have long heard the famous name “Isaribi Tei” but only recently we step into the restaurant. The restaurant is located at Jalan Chow Thye which is quite hidden as it not easily spotted from the main road instead you have to drive into the small road to get into this restaurant. You may park at the food court at the back of the restaurant and claim back parking fees. The restaurant is very old style where most of the table and chair are wood, surrounding decoration are made from wood as well while at the back got a small garden. I like the ambiance very much as it make us feel relax and enjoy.

King Prawn Maki RM30, you will be surprise by the super big prawn use served on table, the king prawn is super big in size and extremely fresh. Maki wrapped with deep fried king prawn and cucumber, it has very crunchy texture while natural sweetness from the king prawn. We really enjoy eating the big king prawn maki.

Sashimi, Tempura, Sushi and Spicy Soba Bento RM35, a bento set contain everything. The salmon sashimi is very fresh and sweet, tempura vegetable is perfectly cook and the sushi is as delicious. Spicy soba is quite special to us as we never eat soba that taste spicy, it taste as plain as it suppose to be and the cold soba is just delicious.

Beef Tataki RM25, beef grilled to perfection then thin sliced and served on top of vegetable, it served with steamed rice. The beef is well cook and presentable on table, thin cook surface while raw inside. I would not say it melt on mouth but a few soft bite is enough to melt it, it doesn’t need any sauce as well instead the original beef flavor is good enough. I never eat slice beef like this before and I truly love it.

Matsuki Japanese Restaurant

*This restaurant is listed in Top Japanese Restaurant in Penang

Matsuki Restaurant is a Japanese Restaurant that served authentic Japanese food, it located in a big bungalow along Cantoment Road. The restaurant doesn’t look to be attractive as the building and signage is old and color fade out. We worry the about the cleanliness, food variety and food quality since we do not have much confidence but no matter how we need to try once and since it been established for so long it must be a reason why it still here.
Matsuki Japanese Restaurant

Step into the restaurant it gave me a very traditional feeling, all furniture and decoration are mostly wood, it is clean and tidy.

Sizzling Noodle and Claypot Tom Yam in Every Food Court

This article link from Penang Gurney Plaza Dining Guide

Sharing the all time favorite Sizzling Noodle and Claypot Tom Yam Noodle that you can find it at almost every shopping complex in Penang such as Gurney Plaza, Tesco, Queensbay…etc as long as there is a food court then most of the time you can get it.

I been eating this shop Sizzling Noodle since i was form 3 when i work in One-Stop Shopping Complex, the Sizzling Noodle has very strong mushroom and chicken sauteed flavor while the Yee Mee has the deep fried aroma, when both put together it form the stunning dish. It seem to be simple prep by the chef but the awesome gravy that make it so delicious, even the chicken is so flavorful as it always deep inside the gravy. I just love it so much and once a while i will eat it again, again and again.

At the same stall you may try it Claypot Tom Yam Noodle as well, it is freaking hot and keep boiling even though you has finish half bowl of it. The Claypot consistently maintain the heat but never overcook the noodle, the Tomyam soup has high level of sourness and mild spiciness, it is very rich in flavor and delicious.

Eva Homemade Nougat

This article link from Penang Gurney Plaza Dining Guide

Just last week when i shopping in Gurney Plaza i saw this small stall selling Nougat, they give us a small piece of sampling and instantly i am addicted to it, the small piece of Nougat has milk fragrance and very rich flavor in mouth especially pure milk flavor.

Nougat is a traditional dessert originally from Europe but it has since become popular and Taiwanese start to improve over it with various flavor but now it has make it step into Malaysia, Eva is now home made the Nougat and selling it in Penang Gurney Plaza.

The specialty of Eva Nougat is definitely the unique King of Fruit Durian flavor, which can greatly symbolically represent Penang. Since this is my first time to try their Nougat hence i decided to get a pack of Mix Nougat which cost RM25 for 230g, approximately 24 pcs of Nougat in it. Contain in the packaging is Cranberries, Almond, Green Tea, Black Sesame, Coffee and Plain Milk.

The one that stood out is definitely the Cranberries, Green Tea and Plain Milk. Cranberries is their most sell item which has mild sourness taste and slices of cranberries to aid it texture, bold use of crunch tea leave making the Green Tea Nougat has slight bitter taste but it perfectly fine for my taste bud while the Plain Milk Nougat is highly recommended by me, it simple but yet rich in flavor. Plain Milk Nougat has the very strong milk flavor and the right amount of sweetness making me eat non stop.

Overall I think they did make a good Nougat and i truly appreciate, look forward to try more flavor.
