Wake up in the morning and can’t wait to move out from this Harbour Inn Hotel. Immediately after check out it time to eat something special, something local people eating.
Yung Lai Siang Coffee Shop has a stall selling Prawn Noodle, Melaka Laksa and Fishball Noodle.

A cup of hot traditional coffee, enjoying.
Hot Coffee

Melaka Laksa, if you saw this in Penang then we Penang people call it curry mee but in Melaka they name it Laksa, anyhow it is curry soup with coconut milk. It taste a little bit spicy with strong coconut milk flavor, it taste good.
Melaka Laksa

Fishball Mee is rather normal where the noodle is a little fat compare to Penang yellow noodle and the flavor is just sautéed with a few slice of pork meat.
fishball mee

Curry Puff, crispy puff skin stuff with curry potato. It taste good.

Light breakfast taken and it time to go for next station “Ming Sate Hut” which located at town area.

Ming Sate Hut located very near to Mahkota Parada, famous for its pork satay. I forgot about the price but it range between RM0.60 to RM1, pretty reasonable.
Ming Sate Hut

Satay sauce provided taste quite close to Penang Satau sauce which has peanut in it, just that Penang Satay sauce taste sweeter.
satay sauce

Cucumber and Onion has additional charge. Surprise!
onion and cucumber

We had 5 Chicken, 5 Pork and 5 Intestines. The Satay is nicely marinated and it taste sautéed instead of sweet, I think this is Melaka flavor which is acceptable, meat is soft and juicy. Intestines is my favorite among the 3 different satay. I can only say that the Satay is just normal, there is better Satay somewhere and we prefer those with sweet taste.

Just next to Ming Sate Hut is the famous must eat Nadeje . It is so called the best Mille Crepe and we do agree with that, in our previous visit we eat quite a lot of it. This time we just going to eat one and that all.
nadeje cake

The Strawberry Mille Crepe we had is very delicious, it not too sweet and the strawberry sourness balance the sweetness. Each layer fill with whole lot of cream which melt in my mouth, it just so delicious.

It time to meet up with our friend, we have 10 persons in this trip and we rent a Semi-D homestay that near to Ban Lee Siang Satau Celup.

Lins Cottage has a total of 4 rooms with 6 unit of double beds which mean it can accommodate up to 12 persons or if you don’t mind to sleep on the floor then you can easily fit another few more persons. It cost RM380 per night, you may visit Lin’s Cottage blog for more detail. The house is well kept and paint with various color which make it look fresh and nice, the most important is all room and toilet very clean and tidy. Air-con is installed in every room as well, except living room. Only one thing to complain is the water pressure, second floor water pressure is way too low that it took us very long time to bath.

Hing Loong Taiwan Beef Noodle is one of the famous beef noodle located in Gajah Berang. We try it Beef Noodle Dry and Soup each cost RM4.50 while additional plate of Pork Ribs cost RM2.70.
Hing Loong Taiwan Beef Noodle

Beef Noodle Soup, the soup has very strong beef flavor and spicy. The noodle is very close to Ramen which is flat and a little bit chewy texture, beef is very soft and overall very delicious.

Beef Noodle Soup

Beef Noodle Dry is actually the same as the soup except it has less soup only, they will give you a bowl of soup as well hence it totally no different. It still taste as good as the soup noodle.
Beef Noodle Dry

Pork Ribs is deep fried on the spot, which is still hot when it served. It well marinated and fully absorb the sauce flavor, it taste a little bit sweet and sauteed, very delicious.

After that we go back to Lin Cottage and get our self prepare for my friend wedding, i skip that part since nothing much to share but i believe you will be more interested to know what we eat after wedding dinner.
To be honest we are quite full after wedding dinner but we still insist to go for second round and that second round is some where near to our house, which is Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup.

Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup is now split into two shop, it on left and right but we do not know which is the original. We choose the one on the right.
Ban Lee Siang

Yes we are full but we still take a lot of thing to eat. Haha! Ban Lee Siang Satay sauce is not the sweet compare to other satay celup, it taste a bit sauteed and the ingredient variety is a lot.

Asam Pedas Claypot

They will served Otak-Otak to every table, the Otak-Otak is the muar version which taste a little bit sweet and authentic.
Otak Otak

We decided to try Ikan Pari Asam Pedas Rice Set, Pari fish served in hot clay pot with a plate of steamed rice that come together with salted egg, vegetable and sambal. The Asam Pedas is not that spicy instead it taste sauteed and mild sour taste, Ikan Pari is very soft and delicious.

The next day wake up in the morning (close to noon) we get ourself prepare and go for our last meal in Melaka before heading back to Penang. We choose to eat Chicken Rice where is a must eat dish in Melaka, we try Chung Wah and Hoe Kee before but both not really impress us so this time we going to try something that local people recommend, which is Huang Chang Chicken Rice Restaurant.
Huang Chang Chicken

There is step to ordered, first you need to find a table to sit down, then proceed to counter to ordered your chicken rice and pay first then get your number, wait for your food to served.

Chicken Rice Ball 60 units x2. We are so hungry!
Chicken Rice Ball

Chicken Meat is very succulent compare to those shop in Jonker street which made to cater the need of tourist only, at here the chicken is much more delicious and the sauce is even better.

Melaka Food Tour Day 1

Melaka Food Tour

One year ago we travel down to Melaka just for fun and after one year we return to Melaka to attend my friend wedding, instead of driving 6 hours just for wedding dinner we decided to go there early and hunt for some local food. It was a pain driving from Penang to Melaka as it took us around 8 hours, it was pretty smooth from Penang until KL but when we reach KL around 6pm the traffic is massive and we stuck there for few hour. Immediately after arrive in Melaka we check in to Harbour Inn Hotel which I book earlier, luckily I did request for late arrival else I going to sleep in the car. I will share more detail about Harbour Inn later.

You know how suffering to drive without eating for 8 hours? We are suffering and immediately after check in and get our room key we decided to go for dinner, my initial plan was to try LOI Beef Bah Kut Teh but seem like quite late and not sure whether it still open hence we just drive around town area and saw this Amigo Steak and Grill Restaurant, it pack with people even at 10pm and my instinct told me that for sure this restaurant serving good food.

Amigo Steak and Grill is a Japanese and Western cuisine restaurant, huge range of variety and we just don’t know how to start. We decided to start our dinner with a plate of fresh fruit follow by mushroom soup then main course.
Orange Juice RM6.80, it well worth the value as it big in cup and not much water mix in the juice.
Amigo Steak and Grill

Mixed Fruit Salad RM6, fresh cut fruit contain of grape, watermelon, mango, papaya and jambu.
Mixed Fruit Salad

Cream of Mushroom RM3.50, we like the mushroom soup very much as it has strong mushroom flavor and it is creamy, it just delicious.
Cream of Mushroom

Okonomi Yaki RM10, the Okonomiyaki is quite different from what we eat in Daimon Lowyat Plaza before. The Okonomiyaki is not that delicious as it doesn’t has noodle at the bottom and the ingredients use is pretty simple, it lack of some flavor.
Okonomi Yaki

Okonomi Yaki

Gyu Ramen RM15, thin slice of beef served in big bowl of clear beef soup that has strong beef flavor instead of only sweet taste, ramen is springy and delicious.

Yes, finally we got something in our stomach and the clock showing something around 11pm. We have a list of food to eat in Melaka and now the list put into use, next station “Kerang and Sotong Stalls” that located behind a street. Putting up my GPS and search for “Kerang and Sotong kankung stalls” and navigate.

The only stall we saw here is Capitol Kerang Rebus Lwei where it located inside a small street that is dark and honestly quite dirty. People are sitting on low chair and sharing table, the shop people will take order from you.
Capitol Kerang Rebus LWei

Capitol Kerang Rebus LWei

Capitol Kerang Rebus LWei

We ordered Siput Bawah(Snail) RM2, Lala(cockles) RM2, Kerang (Clam) RM2 and Sotong Bakar (Roast Dried Squid) RM10.

Cockles and Snail is slightly under cook for me as it still very bloody especially the Snail which is totally uncooked while the Clam is perfectly cook, Cockles is still quite delicious and same goes to Clam but not the Snail. Every dish served with a small plate of home made sauce which is a little bit spicy and sour.

Siput Sawah

Sotong Bakar RM10 is not up to our expectation, it is quite chewy and the sauce provided just doesn’t match with it.
Sotong Bakar

Overall it just normal and nothing special, be prepare to bitten by whole lot of mosquito.

It late and it time to go back hotel sleep, driving our way back to Harbour Inn Hotel.
I made booking through without any deposit and it cost RM76 per night including tax.
The room is average size with a double bed, small TV and make up table. The room has very strong musty smell and the wall got stain, stain on the mattress as well. The pillow is way too soft and the bed got sound when move. The toilet is quite big but floor is dirty and slippery, water heater is working but water pressure is quite low. I would not recommend this place to anyone and we definitely will not come back here again.

Delicious Portuguese Grill Ikan Pari at Station Kopitiam Melaka

Station Kopitiam is located inside Dataran Pahlawan, serving lot of local delicacy. We had no intention to purposely visit this shop instead we are too hungry and looking for place to fill our stomach, we choose Station Kopitiam because it sound like Station One, just that simple with hope that good food served.

Galaxy F Juice RM5.90, it actually soursop juice with some jelly. Soursop is well known to make a good cup of drink as it taste a little bit sour.

Ikan Pari Set RM8.90, portion is big and price is cheap. Cook in Portuguese Grill style where Ikan Pari(stingray), lady finger and onion mix with chili paste wrapped with aluminum foil, cook till the aluminum foil inflate and it cooked.
Chili paste is delicious with dry shrimp in it and it not too spicy as well, it taste even better after squeezing lime juice into it.

Keropok is given with the rice.

It was quite surprise that this type of restaurant will have such a good Ikan Pari Set.

Dim Sum Garden Melaka

Our last meal before leaving Melaka is enjoying Dim Sum that nearby our hotel, Dim Sum Garden Melaka. Big restaurant with few shop lot, crowded with people during out visit.
As long as there is Chinese, Dim Sum is a must place for breakfast or we called it Yum Cha as well, normally all the Dim Sum dishes served is deep fried or steamed and most of it does include lot of meat hence a cup of tea will help for proper digest.
As our lovely reader I believe you enjoy reading our review for Dim Sum as we have review many Dim Sum restaurant over the past year, here is another add on to our long list.

Prawn Dumpling, prawn wrapped in a translucent rice flour and steamed. The skin is a little bit hard and cold, probably it was not heated.

Siew Mai is made from pork and prawn mince and steamed. Siew Mai is tender and flavorful, taste good.

Phoenix Leg is the type of my favorite, where Phoenix leg is steamed with sweet sauce and the skin is easily off from the bone, taste just good.

Steamed Pork Ribs with fermented black bean and chili.

Preserved Egg with pickled ginger is our favorite dish on Lok Lok station but we found it here, it was quite a surprise and the first time.

Chee Cheong Fun, steamed rice noodle roll with soy sauce and chili paste. Chee Cheong Fun is soft and not sticky, sauce is sweet and delicious

Char Siew Pao, fluffy bun made from wheat flour fill with Char Siew, Char Siew is really delicious and it was fully fill into the bun.

Deep Fried Dumpling is my favorite, enjoy the crispy skin and meat inside.

Deep Fried Prawn Roll, taste good as well.

Overall Dim Sum Garden food taste good with reasonable price.

Tomyam Ramen at T-Bowl Theme Restaurant

We must be stupid enough to travel far down to Melaka for T-Bowl since Queensbay also has the same restaurant but Melaka T-Bowl is indeed much more attracting since it has bigger shop lot and much more better interior and exterior design.
Cute little xxx with toilet bowl cover decoration as the shop front look, which is pretty attracting especially to girls or kids.

First impression for T-Bowl definitely it just a theme restaurant and don’t expect much from it, but we are wrong, T-Bowl Melaka prove us wrong, I will share with you later why.

We wait for around 20minute before there is empty seat for us, the interior of restaurant is well decorated. Every table is setup with basin below and most of the chair is WC.
Even the menu is nicely decorated with lot of picture in it showing all the delicious food, some menu even has toothbrush attach to it, those without i guess is stolen.

We had Mango Sago RM5.50 after waited for quite some time, mango juice with sago and few slice of mango served in mini bathtub. It not too sweet instead it has the pure mango juice in it as well.

Tom yam Seafood Ramen Rm11.90 is what surprise us, red and oily surface scare us off but this is how Tomyam supposed to be look like right? Well, it depend as certain Tomyam doesn’t had that much oil.
This bowl of Tomyam come with prawn, crab meat, vegetable and mushroom, Tomyam soup is really spicy and sour, flavor that a great Tomyam suppose to have.

Tomyam ramen served in mini WC and this is the first time we had Tomyam with Ramen, something new to us and we doubt it will be good as Ramen doesn’t absorb much but Tomyam soup in T-Bowl is really rich and concentrated which make the ramen taste so good.
Sweating while eating but we really enjoy the delicious Tomyam Ramen.

Another great dish we had in Melaka, no regret to sweat and tear for the spicy and sour Tomyam Ramen.
