It been quite sometime since last visit to Evergreen Laurel Hotel, our last visit was few years back where we bought Groupon voucher and visit to their buffet but that is not so good experience. We heard they have improve a lot after renovation and we really looking forward to try it out again.

We can really see huge improvement compare to before renovation, there is much more lighting and better table arrangement. Whole area painted with white color which gave a clean and spaces feeling. I particularly enjoy dining in bright lighting rather than in the dim lighting, with the new decoration I feel very comfortable, it is very bright and simple.
Dessert counter are nicely decorated and fill up with colorful dessert, hot stone table on the right side for hot dessert and drink while on the left are filled with fruits and assorted desserts.
On the hot dishes counter, there is a lot of hot dishes that caught my attention such as the Chili Crab, Salmon Fish Head and Deep Fried Prawn. I have to speak out loud that I LOVE Chili Crab! I am very surprise by the huge size of Crab served here, it is very big and fresh. I love the Chili sauce very much as it taste sweet with mild spiciness, we took one big plate and myself almost finish all. It was too good. Same goes to deep fried prawn which are coated with a layer of Chili flour then deep fried to golden color, it is very flavorful and fresh. Curry Salmon Head taste pretty good as well, thick curry paste and the salmon taste fresh too. What about Curry Squid? If you love those traditional Malay sell Nasi Lemak then you will love this dish, I am a big fans of Malay Nasi Lemak hence the flavor suit me very much, i just love it. Fried Rice and Bee Hoon are not so impressive as it lack of flavor and we just hope it has a little bit more flavor.
Well, how can a Japanese Buffet without Sushi? There is assorted freshly made Sushi available, sushi are nicely season to flavor and ingredients are fresh. Cafe Laurel is a Halal restaurant so they are not allow to use Mirin (Sushi Vinegar) but chef are good in twisting the recipe to create pretty much same flavor as Mirin as replacement, impressive result as we cannot differentiate with Sushi created using Mirin.
If you prefer to have cooked seafood then move forward to Cold Seafood Bar for a big plate of Muscle, Prawn, Scallop and Crab (They served later which i forgot to take photo), assorted dipping sauce are provided and we love the spicy sweet sauce which are perfectly for cold seafood.
Move to next counter Salad Bar, a total of 7 different salad served which are Mix Fruit Salad, Tuna Salad, Prawn Salad, Squid Salad…etc.
Not so much choice on Bakery but who care, local people don’t eat bread during buffet. LOL!
Moving toward Portuguese Grilled Station next, assorted fish and muscle are available. You just need to place your order and collect it later, it take sometime to prepare. I like the chili paste very much, it taste sauteed with strong dried shrimp flavor in it, i would recommend you to ask the chef to add more chili paste as it really good.
Char Koay Teow, a very famous local signature dish that should not be miss. Although it not as good as those famous Char Koay Teow in town but it still not bad but the only missing item are PRAWN, where is my prawn? My solution is to get the prawn from noodle station and ask them to add it while cooking or take the deep fried prawn and add it yourself.
Shall we move to Dessert and Fruit station now? We are at 95% full and still there is a lot dessert we want to eat. There is so many choices of Dessert that I failed to name all of them, among those i remember are Mochi, Lemon Cheese Cake, Tiramisu, Pudding, Chocolate Cake, Pandan Cake, Bread Pudding…etc. The list is too long to keep in my short-term memory brain. Overall dessert are good, moist and not too sweet.
Overall we are very impressed with Evergreen Laurel newly renovated restaurant, it is very comfortable and food quality improve a lot. If 3 person visit together, it just RM78.66 per person. Well worth the value.
