Penang Eastern & Oriental Hotel are celebrating the holy month of Ramadhan with Sumptuous Buka Puasa Buffet at Sarkies, Ramadhan Buffet promotion start from 18-June until 16-July 2015. Adult RM128.30 nett while Children RM55.95 nett. Compare to other Ramadhan Buffet, Sarkies theme more toward International Buffet where you can find some Chinese Food, Indian Food and Japanese Food although majority and specialty food still focus on Malay Food.
Over to Sushi counter there is over 6 different type of Sushi available and all are freshly prepared, another 3 different type of Sashimi also available for selection.
Seafood On Ice, oyster with salsa sauce, prawn, green oyster, muscle and crab.
Mushroom Soup, we are quite surprise by the great flavor of mushroom soup served here, normally buffet mushroom soup are those open can but here they use to have additional mushroom in the soup and the flavor is great.
Fresh Fruits Counter, If you look closely to the watermelon you will found that they actually nicely cut the watermelon to remain a small side of skin which allow you to hold it nicely. I like the mix fruits stick as well, small portion with many selection.
Roasted Duck is one of the hottest dish throughout the buffet line, personally i found the roasted duck to be very flavorful and succulent. I took 3 plates and finish all, by the time we left the restaurant i saw only left with half duck, so grab it before finish.
Salad Counter are filled with Chicken Mango Salad, Chicken Salad, Acar Rampai…etc. Acar is actually Malay Chinese local salad which taste sweet, spicy and sour with peanut aroma.
On the main dish counter most of the food are Malay + Chinese cuisine, items such as Sauteed Vegetable, Szechuan Chicken, Beef Goulash, Fried Squid Ring Tom Yam, Steamed Seabass King Soya and Coriander chili, Udang Kering Bersantan, Lamb Korma, Chicken Tangine with Gren Olive and Lemon Zest…etc. So many main dishes that i only manage to try a small portion and not all are tested, among those dishes I personally like the Fried Squid Tom Yam and Udang Kering Bersantan which i found it to be very tasty.
Roasted Whole Lamb. Lamb are brushes with spices all over and roasted to perfection, the outer skin has very strong herb flavoring and taste salty but meat are juicy. I like the crispy skin that fill with strong herb flavor with lamb gamey taste. Nice!
Lamb and Chicken Satay is another must, traditional Malay satay. It is actually meat stick which are either Lamb or Chicken. We found the lamb satay to be extremely flavorful and not chewy, while the chicken satay taste as good. From the picture below you can see how much we love the stay, we take one full plate and finish it.
Whole lot of dessert at Dessert Counter. Tiramisu, Raspberry Panacotta, Strawberry Cheese Cake, Double Choco Brownies, Manggo Puding, Fruit Tarlet, Dome Chocolate Hazelnut, Blueberry Cheese Cake…etc. Some of the signature Malay Kuih are available as well. I found their dessert to be above average and the variety is really impressive, the blueberry cheese cake taste so good that has very strong cheese flavor with moist texture. The Mango Pudding has natural mango flavor instead of artificial taste, cream puff are soft and fill with great filling.
