Famous Taiping Koay Teow Soup Restoran KaKak

Starting our day trip to Taiping, a town located in northern of Perak which is second largest town in Perak after Ipoh. Obviously Perak has a lot good food just anywhere, from our last visit to IpohMing Court Hong Kong Tim Sum, Kedai Makanan Rasa Lain, Onn Kee Bean Sprouts Chicken and Yoke Fook Moon all are very good food and create a good memory back in our head. Did some research before going to Taiping but limited review available, hopefully my review able to help other that plan to go Taiping for stomach building. Yut Onn, Wan Li, Lighthouse Seafood, Ashari Cendor, Xin Kuala Sepatang Seafood and Kok Beng Chicken Rice was all shortlisted for our day trip but just two of us only so impossible for us to consume all food so we kept some for next round visit.

We reach Taiping around 1.30pm which is quite late and a lot of shop is close, believe they operate in morning session. Our first stop suppose to be Yut Onn but sadly they already closed, we drive down a little bit and saw Restoran KaKa and this name cross my mind which I did read it during my research, without any waiting we decided to dine here and start our first makan makan in Taiping.

Restoran Kakak serving various types of noodle in clear soup and dry, but sadly their famous Chicken is finish hence we just left with plain noodle with soup and fish ball.
Ordered Hor Fun Soup and Wan Tan Mee Dry, Penang Koay Teow is actually Taiping Hor Fun so actually the Hor Fun is Kaoy Teow while the Wan Tan Mee not really tastes like Penang Wan Tan Mee as well.
Hor Fun Soup served with Fish Ball and Pork Ball, soup is clear and flavorful and the Hor Fun is very smooth.

Sambai is extremely delicious, spicy and strong belacan flavor, great to be taken with the Hor Fun and Mee together or a big spoon of Sambai into clear soup to make it red and spicy flavor is another way to enjoy the delicious spicy soup but if you not spicy lover then little will do else it will be over spicy and spoil the original flavor of the soup.

Yam Rice at Golden Food Court Kulim

Update: This place has close down.

If you miss Bukit Mertajam Yam Rice but working in Kulim now you no need to go so far, here in Kulim you can get the same quality of Yam Rice which located inside Golden Food Court in Kulim town.
正香芋饭operate by a friendly aunty, her Yam Rice is really one of the best Yam Rice in my list.
Yam Rice

The stall located on your left hand side if you enter from front or far right if you enter from the back of the shop where there is a big parking space (Free).
Zheng Xiang Yam Rice

Yam Rice RM20 for two person portion with extra pork ball includes a small plate of braised pork knuckle.. I always request for additional soup, no charge even you ask for the third bowl which I did that coz the soup is so delicious that you can’t stop scoop it.
Yam Rice

Yam Rice Soup taste sour and packed with pork slices, intestine, liver, stomach, meatballs and blood.
Yam Rice

Not to miss the Chili Paste, it not spicy instead it add extra flavor to the soup or any ingredient you dip with. Aunty ask me whether the Chili Paste is good or not because few days back she ask her maid to fried but failed so now she insist to do it herself.
Yam Rice Chili Paste

Additional Braised Pork Knuckle, it taste excellent and the pork knuckle fat taste like Jelly. Yummy!
Pork Knuckle

RM20 for all the above is reasonable and the friendliness is what we appreciate, no comment when we ask for extra soup, not one but twice.

Sing Heng Khang Seafood Restaurant

Turning round and round in Parit Buntar for hour without finding a good place for our dinner, took out GPS and look for any nearest food POI and we found Sing Heng Khang Restaurant.
Honestly, without GPS you won’t be able to find this place as it hidden in some corner and small road turning in.
Well, we settle down in Sing Heng Khang Restaurant and this restaurant is actually very spaces and they did catering for wedding dinner as well but without air-conditioning.

Ampla Juice with Sour Plum, great amount of Ampla has putting into this cup make it so flavorable.

Kam Heong Mantis Prawn, fried mantis prawn and dried shrimp with Kam Heong sauce. Tasty and mantis prawn side cutting has ease our eating.

They cut the mantis prawn into half, which is a smart move to ensure mantis prawn absorb the Kam Heong sauce.

Stir Fried Kai Lan, fry to mix well and thicken with cornstarch mixture while keeping the freshness of Kai Lan and crunchiness

Curry Fish Head, very strong curry powder flavor and I not really like the fish head which chop into small pieces but luckily the fish head is fresh.

It cost RM33 for the meal, price is reasonable.

Superb Baked Crab at Ai Tee Seafood Restaurant

Kuala Gula is a small town in Perak, you will be surprise by how outskirt it is located but this small town alone has 3 or 4 seafood restaurant.
We selected Ai Tee seafood coz the rest are closed, it was quite worry for us to step into Ai Tee Seafood as the whole shop is without any customer.
Did some research before come here and the recommended dish is Baked Crab and Crab Bee Hoon.

Stir Fried Lala, you can really taste the sweentness from Lala meat, this prove that the Lala is extremely fresh.

Crab Bee Hoon, 2 medium size crab fried with Bee Hoon. Bee Hoon absorb all the essence of the crab but still remain the sweetness of crab meat. Fabulous.

Asam Prawn, honestly the prawn are quite small, it would be better if they could provide bigger prawn. The sourness from asam really help to bring appetite and it make us lick our finger.

Baked Crab, 2 big egg crab was served and we will surprise by the amount of egg inside, as you can see from the picture egg is actually cover most of the portion.
This 2 crab is superb fresh and delicious, you can really taste the sweetness from it meat and really make us gone crazy.

Guess what, this meal only cost us RM50. Can you believe it? Total of 4 crab, 4 dishes, 2 rices and 2 drinks just RM50.

Famous Pork Noodle in Parit Buntar

Lean Hong Kopitiam located in Parit Buntar, unintentionally visited this kopitiam due to most of the shop closed on Wednesday. At first we don’t even know what they this stall selling as signboard was covered, we just try our luck.
Went into kopitiam and only one stall “Ah Ma Pork Noodle”.

This kopitiam is rather old and hot, not really a good environement.
Option to choose for Koay Teow or Maggie Mee, Small RM3.50 and Big RM4.00.

We ordered big bowl which is RM4, portion is big.
Pork blood, minced pork meat, slice pork meat, pork liver and pork skin is covering the whole bowl of noodle.
First taste of the of soup and I was surprise by the sweetness and tastiness, meat is tender soft and pork blood delicious.
Remember to take a lot of the chili paste to be dip, as the chili paste is tasty and not so spicy.

Compare to Nibong Tebal Pork Noodle , Ah Mah Pork Noodle is a lot more delicious on their soup. Well recommended this pork noodle to everyone.
