Soul Cafe Jalan Kek Chuan

Being a loyal customer to Soul Cafe we always get to try their newly launch menu, they never disappointing us with their creativity and tastiness. Today we going to try a couple new item such as French Kiss drinks, two new appetizer and two new main course. Carrot Juice RM10

French Kiss RM12, A special mocktail blended with ceylon black tea, french rose, sour plum and honey. This is a rather special drink that taste extremely smooth and flavorful, a little bit of sourness from plum with sweetness from honey create a balanced yet unique taste.

Cafe Latte RM8

Mushroom Soup RM16, fresh portobello, butoon and shimeji mushroom, slow cook in vegetable stock, final touch with cream and served with toasted baguette on the side. Generous portion of mushroom soup, creamy texture with strong mushroom fragrance.

Chorizo e Vongole Stufato RM35, 1/2kg local fresh clams and chorizo sausage tossed in homemade tomato sauce and white wine, drop of chorizo oil, topped with rockets and served with toasted baguette on the side. Yummy to the max, no doubt clams is extremely fresh as they get it from local market daily, sauce taste extremely flavorful and we wish to ask for a bowl of rice to eat this together.

Fungo Marinato RM15, Mixed fresh mushroom sauteed with herbs and white wine, topped with poached egg, micro greens, extra virgin olive oil and served with toasted baguette on the side. Assorted mushroom are nicely sauteed to flavor, tossing together with poached egg make it taste awesome.

Spaghetti con pencetta RM23, Spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic, onion, black pepper, black olive, cherry tomato, mushroom, smoked bacon, chorizo oil, italian parsley, drizzle of extra virgin oil and topped with Grana Padano Cheese. Spaghetti cook to el-dente texture and with so many ingredients it create a rich and flavorful taste, smoked bacon play a key role as it gave a salty flavor that enhance the overall flavor.

Coscia di Pollo Burger RM22, Grilled whole chicken leg seasoned with mixed herbs and topped with melt cheddar cheese, fresh tomato slices and rockets, house salad and potato fries on the side. English muffin use to replace typical burger bun which has better texture and the big size chicken leg make it so big and hard to bite, but that is what I like about burger. Burger have to be big enough to create some level of satisfaction. Sauce added in burger are slightly lack of flavor and personally i would suggest to add on some vegetable in it to create crunchy texture.

Gula Melaka Cheese Cake are nicely decorate with Doraemon. What a lovely art! The cake is very smooth in texture with a hint of gula melaka sweetness.

Creme Brulee, soft and creamy inside cover with sugar crust and served with raspberry jam. Sweet and sour dessert is always the best combination.

G Hotel Kelawai Gravity Rooftop Bar is a brand new place to hangout. Reaching up to the top of G Hote Kelawai for Gravity Rooftop Bar that provide an awesome view of Penang. We are not so lucky because there is some haze problem that block certain area else we can eve view a great sunset from here.

Gravity Rooftop Bar is located next to Hotel swimming pool, swimming at the top open floor must be a good experience.

Totally different experience after sunset, very nice lighting and windy as well.

Rainbow Margarita RM26, introducing Gravity signature beverage that has the highest order rate and it definitely the most eye catching drink as well. 5 color with different flavor of sweet alcoholic drink that taste totally different, not too strong instead it taste a bit sweet especially their cover the cup with a layer of sugar instead of salt.

Pomegranate Mojito RM38

Pink Perfection RM21, combination of watermelon, strawberry, orange and lemon juice. Non-alcoholic drink.

Strawberry Daiquiri RM35

Mango Daiquiri RM35

Gravity Rissoles RM19, marinated chicken breast grilled and top with tomato and cheese. Chicken breast is juicy and mixing it with cheese to create a very strong cheese fragrance and well balanced flavor.

Prawn & Watermelon Salsa RM19, nicely plated snack that has deep fried prawn served in a pool of watermelon. Prawn are season to flavor and eating with cold watermelon taste refreshing.

Soft Shell Crab RM24, perfectly deep fried to crispy soft shell crab taste awesome, it is so crispy and not oily at all. Serving together with Vietnamese roll that has crunchy vegetable in it.

Lumpia RM19, pretty similar to local deep fried spring roll but instead of only vegetable they fill it with duck meat and vegetable, it served with special home made sauce that taste sweet with mild spiciness.

Satay Lilit Ayam RM19, marinated chicken meat wrapped at lemongrass then grilled to perfection, chicken meat itself taste flavorful and additional fragrance from lemongrass making it taste even better.

Wedges RM15, my favorite wedges with tomato sauce. best combination.

GK Wings RM28, one, two, three, four chicken wings. Yummy! Chicken wing with sweet sauce top with sesame, it is very juicy and the sweet sauce that pretty much like BBQ sauce are very tasty.

Gravity Burger RM28, that is a big portion of burger. You can choose to have either chicken or beef patty and it served with wedges.

Fried Fries RM12

Starting from October’15, every Wednesday and Thursday night are LADIES NIGHT at Gravity Rooftop Bar. Ladies are entitle for free flow of cocktail from 8pm - 10pm and not one but three different type of cocktail available for selection. Cocktail are different every week as well.
Ladies Night Drinks that consist of Mango Magarita, Cope Copper and Tequila Sunrise.

3. Pick your sauce - Honey Mustard Mayonnaise, Dijon Mustard, Sun-dried Tomato Tapenade….etc

Grilled Chicken Breast with Green Tea Bun, avocado, cucumber with sunny side up egg. I am really surprise by the soft and juicy chicken breast, it is nicely marinated to flavor and delicious.

Ground Lamb and Rosemary with Whole Wheat Bun, extremely thick size lamb patty that is so flavorful with nicely marinated sauce, it pair well with pineapple that taste sweet and sourish. I have two side dishes which are tomato and asparagus and both taste good although asparagus a little bit oily.

Grilled Portobello Mushroom with Whole Wheat Bun, three big size of mushroom grilled to perfection with a sprinkle of salt to enhance it flavor served with assorted fresh vegetable and fried egg make it taste good.

Last but not least Ground Australian Grain-Fed Beef, thickness of patty can be measure with ruler, it is so thick and filling. Even big eater like me failed to consume it by my own, few ponds of meat nicely season to flavor and grilled to perfection.

That my way of eating burger, instead of using folks and knife i prefer to eat it with hand. Although it look messy but that make it taste better.

Yellow Lips Aussie and Japanese Cuisine Restaurant at Beach Street Penang

Few months back we review Mangoes Cafe which has been moved to Gurney Paragon now, the new tenant occupied the exact same shop lot is Yellow Lips. Why Yellow Lips? according to the owner he just want something simple but catchy and easy to remember. Honestly I can easily remember the name, Yellow and Lips. They maintain pretty much everything in term of layout and decoration.

90/92 Pour Over RM10, one of the signature drink served here are definitely the award winning P&F Coffee which has been awarded 90 and 92 points respectively from world recognize coffeereview.com.

Crabonara RM16, more and more restaurant use squid ink as one of the key ingredient for pasta, same goes to Yellow Lips where their pasta are cook with squid ink to create the black color pasta together with the special made crab and salmon roe sauce is pretty good.

Softshell Crab Burger RM25, this must be the very first soft shell crab in town. It not typical small size crab instead it is very big size soft shell crab that deep fried to golden color and top with special made sauce, served as burger. Unbelievable presentation and flavor, it is very crunchy and the great flavor of soft shell crab make it one of the best burger ever had.

Queensbays Mall Food Court “Queens Hall” officially open on 20 April 2015. 17,500sq food court at Center Zone cater for approximately 500 guests, offering Penang local delicacy such as Char Koay Teow, Hokkien Mee, Chicken Rice…etc. A few famous shop such as Sukhothai, Sin Nam Huat, I Love Yoo You Tiao…etc are also established a stall over here.

The new theme featuring character of Penang Georgetown, separated into 8 rooms such as Room of Bricks, Room of Signage, Room of Garden, Room of Medicine Box, Room of Containers, Room of Roof, Room of Windows and Room of Tiles. All this room are piece by piece assemble from the old Penang.

Fresh Fruit Juice, assorted fresh fruits mix and match. Highly recommended the Dragon Fruits mixed with Apple and Orange, although the price is slightly on the high side but consider the amount of fresh fruit blended it still worth the value.

Sukhothai is one of our favorite restaurant for beef noodle, we start visited their shop since day 1 their established business at Burma Road.
Beef Noodle never disappointed us, it has great beef aroma and the beef meat is to tender and delicious.

Char Koay Teow, a big surprise to us. We never expect the Char Koay Teow to be that authentic consider the lack of pork lard, the big portion of Char Koay Teow is so delicious.

Tab Tim Krob, we had 3 big bowl of this dessert as it just too good.

Tom Yam Noodle, instead of chili red tom yam, we try the clear soup tom yam that has stronger lemon grass flavor and sourish with mild spiciness.

Kung Poh Yee Mee from Penang Wok, nicely cook yee mee has the “wok hei”, it taste really good.

Chili Pan Mee is one of the best dishes we had, the noodle is perfectly cook to nice texture and the sauce is flavorful, I enjoy the crispy “ikan bilis” and runny egg.
