Hard Rock Hotel Starz Diner serving Asian and International cuisine at the ground floor of the Hotels, normally this area use to served buffet but they do serve a la carte menu as well and today we going to review their a la carte menu.

Fresh Fruit Juice

Salmon “Pegaga” RM20, Pan fried salmon, mashed pumpkin, pegag pesto with pomegranate salsa. Just love the food presentation which greatly shown respect to fresh ingredients. Salmon is perfectly cook to maintain juiciness while the mashed pumpkin is just delicious although both doesn’t seem to go together that well but eating it separately pretty nice.

Rice Paper Rolls RM18, Freshly rolled with pickled vegetables, mint leaves, coriander and marinated glass noodles with garlic chili plum dip. Very refreshing and healthy food to consume, the rice paper is very thin and soft while the fresh vegetable is very crunchy, dipping with the sweet and sour sauce making it taste good.

Mediterrannean Cheese Burger RM38, Grilled 10 Oz beef or chicken patty with Mediterranean cheese, caramelized onions, smoked BBQ sauce, mixed salad and potato wedges. In love with the beef patty so much, it is so thick and juicy, great flavor and the addition caramelized onions making it taste awesome.

Fish Wraps RM30, Deep fried fish fillet wrapped in tortilla skin, filled with romaine lettuce, chili, tomatoes, mushroooms, onions, cheese and honey mustard coriander spread. Fish fillet perfectly deep fried to golden color, wrapping with fresh vegetable making it taste good, dipping with the special made sauce is even better.

Chicken “Briyani” RM26, Slow braised spiced chicken “Briyani”, “Briyani” rice, cashew nuts, raisins, Indian crackers and vegetables daal. Normally you can only find good “Briyani” rice at selected stall but now you can get the great taste of Briyani at Hark Rock Hotel as well, the rice is perfectly cook with assorted herbs, although it a little bit hard for me but eating with curry is just fine, chicken curry is thick and flavorful as well.

Mince Pies, Lamb Filling RM28, Chicken Filling RM24, Vegetable Filling RM20. Big crunchy pie wrapped with lamb, chicken or vegetable filling top with huge portion of mash potato. Portion is huge and great for sharing, a big spoon of mash potato with mince pie is just great.

Apple Pies RM20, Filles with apple cinnamon, topped with vanilla ice cream and mixed berry compote. Unfortunately we found this dessert to be too sweet and it just mask out all other flavor.

Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa Seaside Asian Style Barbecue Buffet

Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa presents seaside Asian style barbecue with Penang most famous Char Koay Teow. The open dining area is very comfortable and you got to see the sunset as well. It happen every Friday and Saturday from 6.30pm to 10.00pm, price at RM108++ adult while RM54++ child.

The restaurant is Pinang Bar & Restaurant which just next to the big swimming pool, walking through the swimming pool with the great big tree gave a very comfortable feeling and it definitely a great place to take some photo as well. The landscape is well taking care of and it is extremely clean as well. I like the pool design which has unique shape instead of boring square box, surrounding the pool with some rock and tree making it more relax and nice looking.

Dining area is well organize, spaces with big gap between table which gave good privacy to customer. Dining by the beach under tree is just fantastic.

Enjoying sunset while dining is one of the great thing to do in life.

Chef working hard to prepare our dinner, he must be passionate and love seeing customer eating what he prepare with a smile on his face.

BBQ buffet are prepare on the spot and all dishes are well marinated before cook.

Well cook clay fish.

There is a couple of dipping sauce for different type of meat, for me BBQ lamb definitely must go with mint sauce, while fish must go with “air masam” aka sweet and sour sauce, steak must dip with BBQ sauce and chicken must take with ketchup. Well, that is personally for me to enjoy my meat.

Not only BBQ meat instead there is Fried Rice, Mediterranean Ratatouille, Baked Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Satay…etc.

If you looking for some vegetable then head on to salad Bar with assorted dressing. We just in love with the fresh vegetable, it is so crunchy and taking together with all sort of add on and dressing is just refreshing.

Prawn Bisque Soup

Char Koay Teow is another signature dish of the buffet which fried on the spot for you, it still hot when served and it taste pretty decent. By the way, did i told you that we just eat 2 plate of it? Yes, it is so delicious.

Assorted dessert and fresh fruits. The variety is not as much as Sarkies Corner but it good enough for us, fresh and nice.

Here is the list of BBQ meat we had over the buffet, which all taste pretty good especially squid which is well marinated and taste awesome.

Local Squid with Turmeric Sambal

Here goes our meal of the night, we call it buffet fine dining. Small portion for each items is enough to fill our stomach.

Matsu Japanese Restaurant Lone Pine Tanjung Bungah Penang

Matsu Japanese restaurant located at Lone Pine Hotel which we have review before, you may read our previous review about Matsu Japanese Restaurant.

Appetizer served to us which is cold cut squid with pickle.

Gyuniku Aspara RM22, Beef roll with asparagus. Some of asparagus is crunchy but some quite old and become chewy, wrapping with thin slice beef and cook with sweet sauce.

California Uramaki to Nigiri Sushi RM79, California reversed roll & 5 pieces of sushi to chef selection, Hiyashi Chasoba aka cold green tea noodles, soft shell crabs, miso soup and macha ice cream. A big portion benton that has our favorite cold noodle, the cold noodle soup is pretty flavorful, perfectly good for the cold noodle.

Sushi is pretty decent as well, 6 different type of sashimi sushi on top of the california reversed roll.

Big bowl of soft shell crabs salad is great to goes along, vegetables is fresh and crunchy while the deep fried soft shell crabs is so delicious.

Spicy Kimuchi Kaisen Udon RM28, spicy kimchee seafood udon noodle soup. It consist of tempura prawn, scallop, vegetable and assorted mushroom. Soup is not that spicy as we expect and it doesn’t really has strong Kimchi taste instead it taste more like seafood flavor spicy soup. Like the noodle pretty much as it has the right texture and the overall is not bad.

Macha Cheese Cake, very strong macha cream on the top layer while creamy cheese at the middle. It taste a little bitter at first then slowly it become sweet, very special taste and it really attract us for the next spoon.

Spice Market Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa “6 in 1 + P60” Buffet Penang

Spice Market Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa having an on going buffet promotion “6 in 1 + P60”, this promotion started from 16 Feb 2014 and will continue until further notice. Sound good but confusing? Let me explain, 6 in 1 mean 6 specialty cuisine in 1 buffet which included Japanese, Western, Indian, Chinese, Malay and Desserts on alternate week they will have something special from each cuisine to served while P60 mean pay only 60% for the actual menu price but this apply on Monday and Tuesday only. Well, before we share further, if you interested on our previous review in this restaurant, please read Spice Market Buffet.

Spice Market Interior

Whole lot of appetizer to start your buffet with, there is different type of fresh cold cut with countless salad. A small piece of each is just great for a buffet start.

Assorted Cheese to go with and we found the Nuts and Raisins Cheese taste superb, it doesn’t taste like ordinary cheese instead it more like a cheese cake to us.

On the Meat Station there is Chicken Roulade stuffed with Apricots and Roasted Lamb which i found the lamb slightly under season but the chicken taste pretty good.

Fresh Seafood is the signature of buffet as it always attract us the most, there is mussels, scallops, crayfish and prawns with assorted dipping sauce. Seafood is fresh and sweet while the dipping sauce just make it perfect.

Herbal Chicken Soup and Tom Yam Soup. Do not miss the herbal chicken soup which is just awesome, it full of flavor and taste extremely good, Tom Yam soup taste a little bit too spicy for us but not bad.

Main Dishes we have during our visit is Kelantanese Specials which include Thai Green Curry Chicken, Daging Hitam Manis, Sotong Masak Kalio, Udang Percik Kelantan, Sayur Masak Paprik and Three Flavor Fish. Most of the dishes here has some spiciness taste but overall taste pretty good.

On the others side there is Vegetable Quesadillas, Brocolli and Carrot, Roasted Potato Wedges, Snapper Picatta, Spicy Cumin Prawn in Tomato, Meatballs in Almond Sauce, Baked Chicken Breast with Cheese and Olive…etc

There is some interesting food on Indian Corner where you can find Tandoor Fish, Chicken and Lamb together with super delicious Satay. Do not miss the lamb Satay which taste sweet with mild spices taste but it doesn’t has the chewy texture instead it is so soft and flavorful.

As mention above, the lamb Satay is a must try.

Heading toward Sushi bar for assorted Sushi and Maki Rolls, which are nicely done and fresh cut Sashimi is just delicious. Even one piece per Sushi type enough to fill your stomach.

Fresh Fruits available are papaya, pineapple, watermelon, jack fruit and honey dew.

Fresh made crepe with ice cream, a great start for dessert. There is whole lot of condiments to fill with crepe and putting on additional ice cream just making it taste even better.

Kids favorite Chocolate Dip.

Countless Desserts served here and it just too much that we can’t try all, all dessert are beautifully craft. Available dessert are Black Forest Cake, Chocolate Fudge, Chocolate Tart, Chocolate Moist, Strawberry Short Cake, Tiramisu…etc the list is too long to be listed here.

The buffet is ongoing weekly from Sunday to Thursday with P60 special for Monday and Tuesday, price at RM128++ for adult while RM64++ per child, what you waiting for, ring 04 8888788 for reservation now.
